Jeremiah 5, verse 18-19
Source: Bible New International Version
Not One Is Upright
18 “Yet even in those days,” declares the Lord, “I will not destroy you completely. 19 And when the people ask, ‘Why has the Lord our God done all this to us?’ you will tell them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your own land, so now you will serve foreigners in a land not your own.’
My point of view about above verses
God says go up and down and look around and try to find one person whose deals are honest and who seek truth then I will spear this city – but still they are swearing falsely on my name
God said why I should forgive you as your children have forsaken me and sworn by gods that are not gods although i provide all their needs so
God said destroy them as they are unfaithful to their Lord but not completely
These people lied completely about God and say – no harm will come to us inform of sword or famine
God said prophets are like wind and no word in them – so let what they say be done to them
God said i will afflict Isralites through other nations as they did not honor me
These nations will not only eat your crops but devour your sons and daughters and your land will be desolated
God said when people will ask you why has the Lord done this to you – you will tell them as we serve foreign gods in our own land so now we will serve foreigners in a land not our own
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
