 Jeremiah 10, verse 1-5

God and Idols

Hear what the Lord says to you, people of Israel. 2 This is what the Lord says:

“Do not learn the ways of the nations

    or be terrified by signs in the heavens,

    though the nations are terrified by them.

3 For the practices of the peoples are worthless;

    they cut a tree out of the forest,

    and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel.

4 They adorn it with silver and gold;

    they fasten it with hammer and nails

    so it will not totter.

5 Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field,

    their idols cannot speak;

they must be carried

    because they cannot walk.

Do not fear them;

    they can do no harm

    nor can they do any good 

خدا وند اور مورتیاں

10 اے اسرائیل کے گھرانے، خدا وند کی سنو، 2 جو خداوند کہتا ہے وہ یہ ہے:

“دیگر قوموں کے لوگوں کی طرح نہ رہو،    آسمانی علامتوں سے ہراساں نہ ہو۔دیگر قومیں ان علامتو ں سے ڈر تی ہیں۔    جنہیں وہ آسمان میں دیکھتے ہیں لیکن تمہیں ان چیزوں سے نہیں ڈرنا چا ہئے۔3 دیگر لوگوں کی شریعت بیکار ہے۔    ان کی مورتیاں جنگل کی لکڑی کے سوا کچھ نہیں۔    ان کی مورتیاں لوگوں کے ہا تھ کے کام ہیں۔4 وہ اپنی مورتیوں کو سونے سے چاندی سے حسین بنا تے ہیں۔    اور اس میں ہتھو ڑوں سے میخیں ٹھو ک کر اسے مضبوط کر تے ہیں

  تا کہ وہ لٹکے رہیں گرنہ پڑیں۔

5 وہ کھجور کی مانند مخروطی ستون ہیں پر بولتے نہیں۔

    ان کو اٹھا کر لے جانا پڑتا ہے، کیوں کہ وہ چل نہیں سکتے۔

ان سے نہ ڈرو کیوں کہ وہ نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتے

    اور ان سے فائدہ بھی نہیں پہنچ سکتا۔” 

My point of view about above verses

God says do not be like other peoples who become terrified by signs in heaven and worship idols made by their own hands which can't talk and walk - those idols are worthless as they can't harm and even do no good 

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
