 Jeremiah 17, verse 19 - 23

Keeping the Sabbath Day Holy

19 This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and stand at the Gate of the People, through which the kings of Judah go in and out; stand also at all the other gates of Jerusalem. 20 Say to them, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah and all people of Judah and everyone living in Jerusalem who come through these gates. 21 This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem. 22 Do not bring a load out of your houses or do any work on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your ancestors.

23 Yet they did not listen or pay attention; they were stiff-necked and would not listen or respond to discipline. 

سبت کو ماننے کے بارے میں

19خُداوند نے مُجھ سے یُوں فرمایا ہے کہ جا اور اُس پھاٹک پر جِس سے عام لوگ اور شاہانِ یہُوداؔہ آتے جاتے ہیں بلکہ یروشلیِم کے سب پھاٹکوں پر کھڑا ہو۔ 20اور اُن سے کہہ دے کہ اَے شاہانِ یہُوداؔہ اور اَے سب بنی یہُوداؔہ اور یروشلیِم کے سب باشِندو جو اِن پھاٹکوں میں سے آتے جاتے ہو خُداوند کا کلام سُنو۔ 21خُداوند یُوں فرماتا ہے کہ تُم خبردار رہو اور سبت کے دِن بوجھ نہ اُٹھاؤ اور یروشلیِم کے پھاٹکوں کی راہ سے اندر نہ لاؤ۔ 22اور تُم سبت کے دِن بوجھ اپنے گھروں سے اُٹھا کر باہر نہ لے جاؤ اور کِسی طرح کا کام نہ کرو بلکہ سبت کے دِن کو مُقدّس جانو جَیسا مَیں نے تُمہارے باپ دادا کو حُکم دِیا تھا۔ 23لیکن اُنہوں نے نہ سُنا نہ کان لگایا بلکہ اپنی گردن کو سخت کِیا کہ شِنوا نہ ہوں اور تربِیّت نہ پائیں۔

My point of view about above verses

God said Judah’s sins are engraved with iron tool on the tablets of their hearts, even their children remember the bad old days of their sins so I will enslave you to your enemies on a land you don’t know as you have kindled my anger

God told who gain riches by unjust means – and when their life half gone their riches will waste them and in end they will prove fools

God said tell people of Judah and Jerusalem keep the Sabbath day holy – don’t bring any load from the gates of Jerusalem in and out on Sabbath day – 

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
