Jeremiah and Pashhur

God Rejects Zedekiah’s Request

⁸ “Furthermore, tell the people, ‘This is what the Lord says: See, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death. ⁹ Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine or plague. But whoever goes out and surrenders to the Babylonians who are besieging you will live; they will escape with their lives. ¹⁰ I have determined to do this city harm and not good, declares the Lord. It will be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will destroy it with fire.’

8اور تُو اِن لوگوں سے کہنا خُداوند یُوں فرماتا ہے کہ دیکھو مَیں تُم کو حیات کی راہ اور مَوت کی راہ دِکھاتا ہُوں۔ 9جو کوئی اِس شہر میں رہے گا وہ تلوار اور کال اور وبا سے مَرے گا لیکن جو نِکل کر کسدیوں میں جو تُم کو گھیرے ہُوئے ہیں چلا جائے گا وہ جِئے گا اور اُس کی جان اُس کے لِئے غنِیمت ہو گی۔ 10کیونکہ مَیں نے اِس شہر کا رُخ کِیا ہے کہ اِس سے بُرائی کرُوں اور بھلائی نہ کرُوں۔ خُداوند فرماتا ہے وہ شاہِ بابل کے حوالہ کِیا جائے گا اور وہ اُسے آگ سے جلائے گا۔ 

My point of view about above verses

Priest Pashhur & Zephaniah who were in charge of temple of Lord asked Jeremiah that ask God that King of Israel Zedekiah inquire shoug we go and fight Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon - will God do wonders in our favoures - Jermiah asked God and reply them that God says I will put mt anger and wrath against you through Babylonian king

God told Jeremiah tell Zedekiah king of Jerusalem who sent people to inquire of your from Lord that your weapons will turn against you – I will hand over to you to king of Babylon – I will strike people with plague and who survives from it will die due to famine and sword. King of Babylon will show no mercy or compassion

God told I am giving you a choice between life and death – who will live in this city (Jerusalem) will die because of plague, sword or famine – but whoever goes out and surrenders to Babylonians will live. Because I am determined to do harm to this city. I have given this city into the hands of King of Babylon and he will destroy it with fire

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
