 Jeremiah 25, verse 17-26

The Cup of God’s Wrath

¹⁷ So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand and made all the nations to whom he sent me drink it: ¹⁸ Jerusalem and the towns of Judah, its kings and officials, to make them a ruin and an object of horror and scorn, a curse—as they are today; ¹⁹ Pharaoh king of Egypt, his attendants, his officials and all his people, ²⁰ and all the foreign people there; all the kings of Uz; all the kings of the Philistines (those of Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the people left at Ashdod); ²¹ Edom, Moab and Ammon; ²² all the kings of Tyre and Sidon; the kings of the coastlands across the sea; ²³ Dedan, Tema, Buz and all who are in distant places;

²⁴ all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the foreign people who live in the wilderness; ²⁵ all the kings of Zimri, Elam and Media; ²⁶ and all the kings of the north, near and far, one after the other—all the kingdoms on the face of the earth. And after all of them, the king of Sheshak will drink it too.

قَوموں پر خُداوند کا غضب

17اِس لِئے مَیں نے خُداوند کے ہاتھ سے وہ پِیالہ لِیا اور اُن سب قَوموں کو جِن کے پاس خُداوند نے مُجھے بھیجا تھا پِلایا۔ 18یعنی یروشلیِم اور یہُوداؔہ کے شہروں کو اور اُس کے بادشاہوں اور اُمرا کو تاکہ وہ برباد ہوں اور حَیرانی اور سُسکار اور لَعنت کا باعِث ٹھہریں جَیسے اب ہیں۔

19شاہِ مِصرؔ فرِعونؔ کو اور اُس کے مُلازِموں اور اُس

کے اُمرا اور اُس کے سب لوگوں کو۔ 20اور

سب مِلے جُلے لوگوں

اور عُوض کی زمِین کے سب بادشاہوں

اور فلِستِیوں کی سرزمِین کے سب بادشاہوں

اور اسقلُوؔن اور غزّہ اور عقرُوؔن اور اشدُود کے

باقی لوگوں کو۔

21ادُوؔم اور موآؔب اور بنی عمُّون کو۔

22اور صُور کے سب بادشاہوں اور صَیدا کے سب

بادشاہوں

اور سمُندر پار کے بحری مُمالِک کے بادشاہوں کو۔

23ددان اور تیما اور بُوز

اور اُن سب کو جو گاو دُم داڑھی رکھتے ہیں۔

24اور عرب کے سب بادشاہوں

اور اُن مِلے جُلے لوگوں کے سب بادشاہوں کو جو

بیابان میں بستے ہیں۔

25اور زِمرؔی کے سب بادشاہوں اور عیلاؔم کے سب

بادشاہوں اور مادَی کے سب بادشاہوں کو۔

26اور شِمال کے سب بادشاہوں کو جو نزدِیک اور جو

دُور ہیں ایک دُوسرے کے ساتھ

اور دُنیا کی سب سلطنتوں کو جو رُویِ زمِین پر ہیں اور اُن کے بعد شیشک کا بادشاہ پِئے گا۔

My point of view about above verses

God said as you didn’t listen my words – I will bring all peoples of north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar – king of Babylon against this land to destroy it and make it a object of horror and scorn and an everlasting ruin- there will be no sounds of joy and gladness- the whole country will become a desolate land and these nations will serve king of Babylon for 70 years

God said when seventy years will finish I will punish the king of Babylon and his nation and land of Babylonians for their guilt and will make it desolate forever

God said all things written in this book and told through Jeremiah shall be fulfilled against this land – they will be enslaved by many great kings – I will repay them according to their deeds and work of their hands

God told me take from my hand this cup filled with wine of my wrath and all nations have to drink it – after drinking they will all stumble and become mad because of the sword I will send among them

I Jeremiah took the cup from Lord’s hand and let all the kings on the face of the earth has to drink it

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
