 Jeremiah 29, verse 15-17

Source: Bible New International Version

A Letter to the Exiles

15 You may say, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon,” 16 but this is what the Lord says about the king who sits on David’s throne and all the people who remain in this city, your fellow citizens who did not go with you into exile— 17 yes, this is what the Lord Almighty says: “I will send the sword, famine and plague against them and I will make them like figs that are so bad they cannot be eaten.

My point of view about above verses

Jeremiah wrote a letter to priests and people who exiled to Babylon - and told them God says go there and settle in their cities - pray for that city as if the city will prosper, you will prosper - get married and increase in numbers

God told Jeremiah, tell Israelites that donot trust prophets and diveners and they tell lies on my name

God told through Jeremiah that go to Babylon and stay there if you will not go i will send famine, pestilence and you will be like rotten fig which can't be eaten

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
