 Jeremiah 34, verse 6-11

Warning to Zedekiah

 ⁶ Then Jeremiah the prophet told all this to Zedekiah king of Judah, in Jerusalem, ⁷ while the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah that were still holding out—Lachish and Azekah. These were the only fortified cities left in Judah.

Freedom for Slaves

⁸ The word came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people in Jerusalem to proclaim freedom for the slaves. ⁹ Everyone was to free their Hebrew slaves, both male and female; no one was to hold a fellow Hebrew in bondage. ¹⁰ So all the officials and people who entered into this covenant agreed that they would free their male and female slaves and no longer hold them in bondage. They agreed, and set them free. ¹¹ But afterward they changed their minds and took back the slaves they had freed and enslaved them again.

صِدقیاہ کے نام پَیغام

6تب یَرمِیاؔہ نبی نے یہ سب باتیں شاہِ یہُوداؔہ صِدقیاہ سے یروشلیِم میں کہِیں۔ 7جب کہ شاہِ بابل کی فَوج یروشلیِم اور یہُوداؔہ کے شہروں سے جو بچ رہے تھے یعنی لکِیس اور عِزیقہ سے لڑ رہی تھی کیونکہ یہُوداؔہ کے شہروں میں سے یِہی حصِین شہر باقی تھے۔

غُلاموں سے فریب

8وہ کلام جو خُداوند کی طرف سے یَرمِیاؔہ پر نازِل ہُؤا جب صِدقیاہ بادشاہ نے یروشلیِم کے سب لوگوں سے عہد و پَیمان کِیا کہ آزادی کی مُنادی کی جائے۔ 9کہ ہر ایک اپنے غُلام کو اور اپنی لَونڈی کو جو عِبرانی مَرد یا عَورت ہو آزاد کر دے کہ کوئی اپنے یہُودی بھائی سے غُلامی نہ کرائے۔ 10اور جب سب اُمرا اور سب لوگوں نے جو اِس عہد میں شامِل تھے سُنا کہ ہر ایک کو لازِم ہے کہ اپنے غُلام اور اپنی لَونڈی کو آزاد کرے اور پِھر اُن سے غُلامی نہ کرائے تُو اُنہوں نے اِطاعت کی اور اُن کو آزاد کر دِیا۔ 11پر اُس کے بعد وہ پِھر گئے اور اُن غُلاموں اور لَونڈِیوں کو جن کو اُنہوں نے آزاد کر دِیا تھا پِھر واپس لے آئے اور اُن کو تابِع کر کے غُلام اور لَونڈِیاں بنا لِیا۔

My point of view about above verses

God told Jeremiah that tell king Zedekiah to make a covenant with Israelites that they have to free their Hebrew slaves whether male or female – so people did this but after some time they change their minds.

 May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
