 Jeremiah 37, verse 11-17

Jeremiah in Prison

¹¹ After the Babylonian army had withdrawn from Jerusalem because of Pharaoh’s army, ¹² Jeremiah started to leave the city to go to the territory of Benjamin to get his share of the property among the people there. ¹³ But when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, arrested him and said, “You are deserting to the Babylonians!”

¹⁴ “That’s not true!” Jeremiah said. “I am not deserting to the Babylonians.” But Irijah would not listen to him; instead, he arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials. ¹⁵ They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten and imprisoned in the house of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison 

¹⁶ Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time. ¹⁷ Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, “Is there any word from the Lord?”

“Yes,” Jeremiah replied, “you will be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon.”

یَرمِیاہ کی گرِفتاری اور قَید میں ڈالا جانا

11اور جب کسدیوں کی فَوج فرِعونؔ کی فَوج کے ڈر سے یروشلیِم کے سامنے سے کُوچ کر گئی۔ 12تو یَرمِیاؔہ یروشلیِم سے نِکلا کہ بِنیمِین کے عِلاقہ میں جا کر وہاں لوگوں کے درمِیان اپنا حِصّہ لے۔ 13اور جب وہ بِنیمِین کے پھاٹک پر پُہنچا تو وہاں پہرے والوں کا داروغہ تھا جِس کا نام اِرّیاہ بِن سلمیاؔہ بِن حننیاؔہ تھا اور اُس نے یَرمِیاؔہ نبی کو پکڑا اور کہا کہ تُو کسدیوں کی طرف بھاگا جاتا ہے۔

14تب یَرمِیاؔہ نے کہا یہ جُھوٹ ہے۔ مَیں کسدیوں کی طرف بھاگا نہیں جاتا ہُوں پر اُس نے اُس کی ایک نہ سُنی پس اِرّیاہ یَرمِیاؔہ کو پکڑ کر اُمرا کے پاس لایا۔ 15اور اُمرا یَرمِیاؔہ پر غضب ناک ہُوئے اور اُسے مارا اور یُونتن مُنشی کے گھر میں اُسے قَید کِیا کیونکہ اُنہوں نے اُس گھر کو قَید خانہ بنا رکھّا تھا۔ 16جب یَرمِیاؔہ قَید خانہ میں اور اُس کے تہ خانوں میں داخِل ہو کر بُہت دِنوں تک وہاں رہ چُکا۔

17تو صِدقیاہ بادشاہ نے آدمی بھیج کر اُسے نِکلوایا اور اپنے محلّ میں اُس سے خُفیہ طَور سے دریافت کِیا کہ کیا خُداوند کی طرف سے کوئی کلام ہے؟

اور یَرمِیاؔہ نے کہا کہ ہے کیونکہ اُس نے فرمایا ہے کہ تُو شاہِ بابل کے حوالہ کِیا جائے گا۔

My point of view about above verses

Zedekiah was made new king of Judah by king of Babylon - and he sent meesage to Jeremiah to pray to God for us 

King Zedekiak asked Jermehiah to pray from God for us and inquire about us – God said tell him Pharos’s army of Egypt which is marching to support you will go back to Egypt – then the Babylonians will return and attack this city and capture it and burn it down

God said don’t deceive yourself that you will escape from Babylonians- surely they will come and burn this city down

King Zedekiah asked mockingly from Jeremiah – is there any word came from the Lord - & Jeremiah replied – you will be delivered into the hands of king of Babylon

 May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
