 Jeremiah 38, verse 14- 18

Zedekiah Questions Jeremiah Again

¹⁴ Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah the prophet and had him brought to the third entrance to the temple of the Lord. “I am going to ask you something,” the king said to Jeremiah. “Do not hide anything from me.”

¹⁵ Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I give you an answer, will you not kill me? Even if I did give you counsel, you would not listen to me.”

¹⁶ But King Zedekiah swore this oath secretly to Jeremiah: “As surely as the Lord lives, who has given us breath, I will neither kill you nor hand you over to those who want to kill you.”

¹⁷ Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “This is what the Lord God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, your life will be spared and this city will not be burned down; you and your family will live. ¹⁸ But if you will not surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, this city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians and they will burn it down; you yourself will not escape from them.’”

صدقیاہ یرمِیاہ سے صلاح لیتا ہے

14تب صِدقیاہ بادشاہ نے یَرمِیاؔہ نبی کو خُداوند کے گھر کے تِیسرے مدخل میں اپنے پاس بُلوایا اور بادشاہ نے یَرمِیاؔہ سے کہا مَیں تُجھ سے ایک بات پُوچھتا ہُوں۔ تُو مُجھ سے کُچھ نہ چُھپا۔

15اور یَرمِیاؔہ نے صِدقیاہ سے کہا کہ اگر مَیں تُجھ سے کھول کر بیان کرُوں تو کیا تُو مُجھے یقِیناً قتل نہ کرے گا؟ اور اگر مَیں تُجھے صلاح دُوں تو تُو نہ مانے گا۔

16تب صِدقیاہ بادشاہ نے یَرمِیاؔہ کے سامنے تنہائی میں کہا زِندہ خُداوند کی قَسم جو ہماری جانوں کا خالِق ہے کہ نہ مَیں تُجھے قتل کرُوں گا اور نہ اُن کے حوالہ کرُوں گا جو تیری جان کے خواہاں ہیں۔

17تب یَرمِیاؔہ نے صِدقیاہ سے کہا کہ خُداوند لشکروں کا خُدا اِسرائیل کا خُدا یُوں فرماتا ہے کہ یقیناً اگر تُو نِکل کر شاہِ بابل کے اُمرا کے پاس چلا جائے گا تو تیری جان بچ جائے گی اور یہ شہر آگ سے جلایا نہ جائے گا اور تُو اور تیرا گھرانا زِندہ رہے گا۔ 18پر اگر تُو شاہِ بابل کے اُمرا کے پاس نہ جائے گا تو یہ شہر کسدیوں کے حوالہ کر دِیا جائے گا اور وہ اِسے جلا دیں گے اور تُو اُن کے ہاتھ سے رہائی نہ پائے گا۔

My point of view about above verses

Jeremiah told people that God says whoever stays in this city will die by sword, famine, or plague – but whoever goes to Babylonians will live- they will escape  with their lives – this city will certainly will be given into the hands of king of Babylon – who will capture it

Jeremiah told King Zedekiah that if you surrender yourself into the hands of king of Babylon – your life will be spared, you and your family will live – but if not this city will be given into the hands of Babylon and they will burn it out and you will not escape from them - its decreed by God almighty 

 May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
