 Jeremiah 38, verse 24-28

Zedekiah Questions Jeremiah Again

²⁴ Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “Do not let anyone know about this conversation, or you may die. ²⁵ If the officials hear that I talked with you, and they come to you and say, ‘Tell us what you said to the king and what the king said to you; do not hide it from us or we will kill you,’ ²⁶ then tell them, ‘I was pleading with the king not to send me back to Jonathan’s house to die there.’”

²⁷ All the officials did come to Jeremiah and question him, and he told them everything the king had ordered him to say. So they said no more to him, for no one had heard his conversation with the king.

²⁸ And Jeremiah remained in the courtyard of the guard until the day Jerusalem was captured.

The Fall of Jerusalem

This is how Jerusalem was taken:

صدقیاہ یرمِیاہ سے صلاح لیتا ہے

24تب صِدقیاہ نے یَرمِیاؔہ سے کہا کہ اِن باتوں کو کوئی نہ جانے تو تُو مارا نہ جائے گا۔ 25پر اگر اُمرا سُن لیں کہ مَیں نے تُجھ سے بات چِیت کی اور وہ تیرے پاس آ کر کہیں کہ جو کُچھ تُو نے بادشاہ سے کہا اور جو کُچھ بادشاہ نے تُجھ سے کہا اب ہم پر ظاہِر کر۔ ہم سے نہ چُھپا اور ہم تُجھے قتل نہ کریں گے۔ 26تب تُو اُن سے کہنا کہ مَیں نے بادشاہ سے عرض کی تھی کہ مُجھے پِھر یونتن کے گھر میں واپس نہ بھیجے کہ وہاں مَروں۔ 27تب سب اُمرا یَرمِیاؔہ کے پاس آئے اور اُس سے پُوچھا اور اُس نے اِن سب باتوں کے مُطابِق جو بادشاہ نے فرمائی تِھیں اُن کو جواب دِیا اور وہ اُس کے پاس سے چُپ ہو کر چلے گئے کیونکہ اصل مُعاملہ اُن کو معلُوم نہ ہُؤا۔ 28اور جِس دِن تک یروشلیِم فتح نہ ہُؤا یَرمِیاؔہ قَید خانہ کے صحن میں رہا اور جب یروشلیِم فتح ہُؤا تو وہ وہِیں تھا۔ 

My point of view about above verses

Jeremiah told people that God says whoever stays in this city will die by sword, famine, or plague – but whoever goes to Babylonians will live- they will escape  with their lives – this city will certainly will be given into the hands of king of Babylon – who will capture it

Jeremiah told King Zedekiah that if you surrender yourself into the hands of king of Babylon – your life will be spared, you and your family will live – but if not this city will be given into the hands of Babylon and they will burn it out and you will not escape from them - its decreed by God almighty 

So handover yourself to king of Babylon as if you will do this - your life will be spared as told by God 

Jeremiah told King Zedekiah – God declared that handover to you to Babylonians so all go well with you

King Zedekiah told Jeremiah do not tell anyone about the conversation about us and king let him remain in the courtyard of the guard till the Jerusalem captured 

 May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
