 Jeremiah 40, verse 1-6

The word came to Jeremiah from the Lord after commander of the imperial guard had released him at Ramah. He had found Jeremiah bound in chains among all the captives from Jerusalem and Judah who were being carried into exile to Babylon. ² When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, “The Lord your God decreed this disaster for this place. ³ And now the Lord has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because you people sinned against the Lord and did not obey him. ⁴ But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.”

 However, before Jeremiah turned to go, Nebuchadnezzar added, “Go back to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the towns of Judah, and live with him among the people, or go anywhere else you please.”

Then the commander gave him provisions and a present and let him go. ⁶ So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah and stayed with him among the people who were left behind in the land.

یَرمِیاہ جدلیاہ کے پاس قیام کرتا ہے

1وہ کلام جو خُداوند کی طرف سے یَرمِیاؔہ پر نازِل ہُؤا اِس کے بعد کہ جلوداروں کے سردار نبُوزراداؔن نے اُس کو رامہ سے روانہ کر دِیا جب اُس نے اُسے ہتھکڑیوں سے جکڑا ہُؤا اُن سب اسِیروں کے درمِیان پایا جو یروشلیِم اور یہُوداؔہ کے تھے جِن کو اسِیر کر کے بابل کو لے جا رہے تھے۔

2اور جلوداروں کے سردار نے یَرمِیاؔہ کو لے کر اُس سے کہا کہ خُداوند تیرے خُدا نے اِس بلا کی جو اِس جگہ پر آئی خبر دی تھی۔ 3سو خُداوند نے اُسے نازِل کِیا اور اُس نے اپنے قَول کے مُطابِق کِیا کیونکہ تُم لوگوں نے خُداوند کا گُناہ کِیا اور اُس کی نہیں سُنی اِس لِئے تُمہارا یہ حال ہُؤا۔ 4اور دیکھ آج مَیں تُجھے اِن ہتھکڑیوں سے جو تیرے ہاتھوں میں ہیں رہائی دیتا ہُوں۔ اگر میرے ساتھ بابل چلنا تیری نظر میں بِہتر ہو تو چل اور مَیں تُجھ پر خُوب نِگاہ رکُھّوں گا اور اگر میرے ساتھ بابل چلنا تیری نظر میں بُرا لگے تو یہِیں رہ۔ تمام مُلک تیرے سامنے ہے۔ جہاں تیرا جی چاہے اور تُو مُناسِب جانے وہِیں چلا جا۔

5وہ وہِیں تھا کہ اُس نے پِھر کہا تُو جِدلیاؔہ بِن اخِیقاؔم بِن سافن کے پاس جِسے شاہِ بابل نے یہُوداؔہ کے شہروں کا حاکِم کِیا ہے چلا جا اور لوگوں کے درمِیان اُس کے ساتھ رہ ورنہ جہاں تیری نظر میں بِہتر ہو وہِیں چلا جا۔ اور جلوداروں کے سردار نے اُسے خُوراک اور اِنعام دے کر رُخصت کِیا۔ 6تب یَرمِیاؔہ جِدلیاؔہ بِن اخِیقاؔم کے پاس مِصفاؔہ میں گیا اور اُس کے ساتھ اُن لوگوں کے درمِیان جو اُس مُلک میں باقی رہ گئے تھے رہنے لگا۔

My point of view about above verses

Commander of guard told Jeremiah as you people sinned against the Lord and did not obey him so He decreed disaster against this land. But now you are free – if you want to live in Jerusalem its upto you or want to go Babylon – whole land is before you – whatever pleases you

so Jeremiah stayed in the land of Jerusalem 

 May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
