Jeremiah 44, verse 19-25

Disaster Because of Idolatry

19 The women added, “When we burned incense to the Queen of Heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did not our husbands know that we were making cakes impressed with her image and pouring out drink offerings to her?”

20 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, both men and women, who were answering him, 21 “Did not the Lord remember and call to mind the incense burned in the towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem by you and your ancestors, your kings and your officials and the people of the land? 22 When the Lord could no longer endure your wicked actions and the detestable things you did, your land became a curse and a desolate waste without inhabitants, as it is today. 23 Because you have burned incense and have sinned against the Lord and have not obeyed him or followed his law or his decrees or his stipulations, this disaster has come upon you, as you now see.”

24 Then Jeremiah said to all the people, including the women, “Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah in Egypt. 25 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: You and your wives have done what you said you would do when you promised, ‘We will certainly carry out the vows we made to burn incense and pour out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven.’

19اور جب ہم آسمان کی ملِکہ کے لِئے بخُور جلاتی اور تپاون تپاتی تِھیں تو کیا ہم نے اپنے شَوہروں کے بغَیر اُس کی عِبادت کے لِئے کُلچے پکائے اور تپاون تپائے تھے؟

20تب یَرمِیاؔہ نے اُن سب مَردوں اور عَورتوں یعنی اُن سب لوگوں سے جِنہوں نے اُسے جواب دِیا تھا کہا۔ 21کیا وہ بخُور جو تُم نے اور تُمہارے باپ دادا اور تُمہارے بادشاہوں اور اُمرا نے رعِیّت کے ساتھ یہُوداؔہ کے شہروں اور یروشلیِم کے بازاروں میں جلایا خُداوند کو یاد نہیں؟ کیا وہ اُس کے خیال میں نہیں آیا؟ 22پس تُمہارے بد اَعمال اور نفرتی کاموں کے سبب سے خُداوند برداشت نہ کر سکا۔ اِس لِئے تُمہارا مُلک وِیران ہُؤا اور حَیرت و لَعنت کا باعِث بنا جِس میں کوئی بسنے والا نہ رہا جَیسا کہ آج کے دِن ہے۔ 23چُونکہ تُم نے بخُور جلایا اور خُداوند کے گُنہگار ٹھہرے اور اُس کی آواز کے شِنوا نہ ہُوئے اور نہ اُس کی شرِیعت نہ اُس کے آئِین نہ اُس کی شہادتوں پر چلے اِس لِئے یہ مُصِیبت جَیسی کہ اب ہے تُم پر آ پڑی۔

24اور یَرمِیاؔہ نے سب لوگوں اور سب عَورتوں سے یُوں کہا کہ اَے تمام بنی یہُوداؔہ جو مُلکِ مِصرؔ میں ہو! خُداوند کا کلام سُنو۔ 25ربُّ الافواج اِسرائیل کا خُدا یُوں فرماتا ہے کہ تُم نے اور تُمہاری بِیوِیوں نے اپنی زُبان سے کہا کہ آسمان کی ملِکہ کے لِئے بخُور جلانے اور تپاون تپانے کی جو نذریں ہم نے مانی ہیں ضرُور ادا کریں گے اور تُم نے اپنے ہاتھوں سے اَیسا ہی کِیا۔ پس اب تُم اپنی نذروں کو قائِم رکھّو اور ادا کرو

My point of view about above verses

God said as still you are not obeying me and determined to go to Egypt so I will destroy you there with plague, famine and sword – none of remnant of Judah who will live in Egypt return except a few fugitives

People of Judah who came to Egypt did listen to word of God spoken through Jeremiah and continued their offerings to queen of heaven

God said tell these people that you and your wives have vowed to burn incense & pour drink offerings to queen of heaven so do what you promised and surely disaster will come upon you

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
