Leviticus 21 verse 10-12
Rules for Priests
10 “‘The high priest, the one among his brothers who has had the anointing oil poured on his head and who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let his hair become unkempt or tear his clothes. 11 He must not enter a place where there is a dead body. He must not make himself unclean, even for his father or mother, 12 nor leave the sanctuary of his God or desecrate it, because he has been dedicated by the anointing oil of his God. I am the Lord.
My point of view about above verses
God is telling Moses to tell Aaron sons (priests) especially the high priest to follow the rules i have set for priests.
The anointing oil is on their head - so their hairs should be properly kept - He is not supposed to tear his clothes because of anger or grief - High priest is not allowed to enter a place where there is dead body - even if the dead body is of his father or mother - He should not leave the holy place of worship so to keep it holy -
Oil has been poured on priests which dedicate them to Lord and His service only
It seems its not so simple to become a priest - God wants his priests to follow rules and regulation to conduct this duty the way God wants
They are presenting food offering to the Lord so they should not defile themselves for any reason
- They have been consecrated for a religious purpose - so they must follow the rules
They have to be holy as they are intermediary between God and his people
We need to live in this world as God wants us to live - we have to do what he is telling us to do-
May God inclined us to obey his words to lead our lives the way God wants us to live on this earth -
May God bless all those who are obeying His commandments
