Leviticus 23 verse 9-14
The Appointed Festivals
Offering the First fruits
9 The Lord said to Moses, 10 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. 11 He is to wave the sheaf before the Lord so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. 12 On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the Lord a lamb a year old without defect, 13 together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of the finest flour mixed with olive oil—a food offering presented to the Lord, a pleasing aroma—and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine. 14 You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
(9)اور خُداوند نے مُوسیٰ سے کہا۔
(10)بنی اِسرائیل سے کہہ کہ جب تُم اُس مُلک میں جو مَیں تُم کو دیتا ہوں داخِل ہو جاؤ اور اُس کی فصل کاٹو تو تُم اپنی فصل کے پہلے پَھلوں کا ایک پُولا کاہِن کے پاس لانا۔
(11)اور وہ اُسے خُداوند کے حضُور ہِلائے تاکہ وہ تُمہاری طرف سے قبُول ہو اور کاہِن اُسے سبت کے دُوسرے دِن صُبح کو ہِلائے۔
(12)اور جِس دِن تُم پُولے کو ہِلواؤ اُسی دِن ایک نر بے عَیب یکسالہ برّہ سوختنی قُربانی کے طَور پر خُداوند کے حضُور گُذراننا۔
(13)اور اُس کے ساتھ نذر کی قُربانی کے لِئے تیل مِلا ہُؤا مَیدہ اَیفہ کے دو دہائی حِصّہ کے برابر ہو تاکہ وہ آتِشِین قُربانی کے طَور پر خُداوند کے حضُور راحت انگیز خُوشبُو کے لِئے جلائی جائے اور اُس کے ساتھ مَے کا تپاون ہِین کے چَوتھے حِصّہ کے برابر مَے لے کر کرنا۔
(14)اور جب تک تُم اپنے خُدا کے لِئے یہ چڑھاوا نہ لے آؤ اُس دِن تک نئی فصل کی روٹی یا بُھنا ہُؤا اناج یا ہری بالیں ہرگِز نہ کھانا ۔ تُمہاری سب سکُونت گاہوں میں پُشت در پُشت ہمیشہ یِہی آئِین رہے گا۔
My point of view about above verses
This is the 3rd feast- Feast of First Fruits, its also called feast of harvest - it was observed first time when they entered the land of Canaan which God promised them to give as their inheritance - This offering of first fruits is thanks giving to God - so that the harvest is plentiful –God told them you have to bring a sheaf of first grain as a wave offering on the first day of Sabbath and priest has to wave it before Lord on your behalf so that it is accepted . On the day you offer wave offering you have to sacrifice as a burnt offering to the Lord – It should be a lamb a year old and without defect. Together with grain offering – flour mixed with olive oil (a pleasing aroma) and drink offering (wine) –
The quantity of grain is about 2- kilogram - a fine flour mixed with oil and wine is about one liter - which is to be poured out at the base of the altar
The three festivals i.e, Passover, Feast of unleavened bread and Feast of first fruit are fall close together - happens in a period of 9-day
You must not eat any grain from the new harvest until you bring the offering to the Lord . This is a lasting ordinance for generation to come
God told Moses that the appointed festivals are sacred assemblies of the Lord
God wants his people to remember what bigger things he has done for them and celebrate these events as gratitude to Him - And also offer him thanks giving for his blessings
We need to live in this world as God wants us to live - we have to do what he is telling us to do-
May God inclined us to obey his words to lead our lives the way God wants us to live on this earth -
