Leviticus 23 verse 37 -43
The Appointed Festivals
37 (“‘These are the Lord’s appointed festivals, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing food offerings to the Lord—the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. 38 These offerings are in addition to those for the Lord’s Sabbaths and in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the Lord.)
39 “‘So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the Lord for seven days; the first day is a day of Sabbath rest, and the eighth day also is a day of Sabbath rest. 40 On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees—from palms, willows and other leafy trees—and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. 41 Celebrate this as a festival to the Lord for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 Live in temporary shelters for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in such shelters 43 so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in temporary shelters when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’”
My point of view about above verses
The 7th feast is called as Succoth - It falls on 15th day of 7th month (Tishri) of Jewish calendar and it last for seven days - Israelite are asked to offer the sacrifices for seven days i.e. burnt offerings, grain offerings and drink offerings - and on first day there will be sacred assembly and on last day - there will be sacred assembly again - They are asked to not do any work on 1st day and eight day - its day of celebration and rest for people - This is a happy celebration and rejoicing before the Lord and thanking him that what marvelous things he has done for his people
Israelite families camp out in shelters made of branches of trees - just to remember the time of their exodus from Egypt to the the promised land - and during this time period they lived in shelters - so by this way they tell their generations how God brought them out from Egypt and provide everything for living during their journey which last for 40- years till they arrived to the promised land and they have to value it by observing this festivals with their families
In additions to these festivals - they are asked to observe Sabbaths also with your gifts and free will offerings
We need to live in this world as God wants us to live - we have to do what he is telling us to do- as there is
rejoicing in worshiping Him
May God inclined us to obey his words to lead our lives the way God wants us to live on this earth -
May God bless all those who are obeying His commandments
