Leviticus 27 verse 1 - 8
Redeeming What Is the Lord’s
The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘If anyone makes a special vow to dedicate a person to the Lord by giving the equivalent value, 3 set the value of a male between the ages of twenty and sixty at fifty shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel 4 for a female, set her value at thirty shekels 5 for a person between the ages of five and twenty, set the value of a male at twenty shekels and of a female at ten shekels 6 for a person between one month and five years, set the value of a male at five shekels of silver and that of a female at three shekels of silver; 7 for a person sixty years old or more, set the value of a male at fifteen shekels and of a female at ten shekels. 8 If anyone making the vow is too poor to pay the specified amount, the person being dedicated is to be presented to the priest, who will set the value according to what the one making the vow can afford.
(1)پِھر خُداوند نے مُوسیٰ سے کہا کہ۔
(2)بنی اِسرائیل سے کہہ کہ جب کوئی شخص اپنی مَنّت پُوری کرنے لگے تو مَنّت کے آدمی تیرے قِیمت ٹھہرانے کے مُوافِق خُداوند کے ہوں گے۔
(3)سو بِیس برس کی عُمر سے لے کر ساٹھ برس کی عُمر تک کے مَرد کے لِئے تیری ٹھہرائی ہُوئی قِیمت مَقدِس کی مِثقال کے حِساب سے چاندی کی پچاس مِثقال ہوں۔
(4)اور اگر وہ عَورت ہو تو تیری ٹھہرائی ہُوئی قِیمت تِیس مِثقال ہوں۔
(5)اور اگر پانچ برس سے لے کر بِیس برس تک کی عُمر ہو تو تیری ٹھہرائی ہُوئی قِیمت مَرد کے لِئے بِیس مِثقال۔ اور عَورت کے لِئے دس مِثقال ہوں۔
(6)پر اگر عُمر ایک مہِینے سے لے کر پانچ برس تک کی ہو تو لڑکے کے لِئے چاندی کی پانچ مِثقال۔ اور لڑکی کے لِئے چاندی کی تِین مِثقال ٹھہرائی جائیں۔
(7)اور اگر ساٹھ برس سے لے کر اُوپر اُوپر کی عُمر ہو تو مَرد کے لِئے پندرہ مِثقال۔ اور عَورت کے لِئے دس مِثقال مُقرّر ہوں۔
(8)پر اگر کوئی تیرے اندازہ کی نِسبت کم مقدُور رکھتا ہو تو وہ کاہِن کے سامنے حاضِر کِیا جائے اور کاہِن اُس کی قِیمت ٹھہرائے یعنی جِس شخص نے مَنّت مانی ہے اُس کی جَیسی حَیثِیّت ہو وَیسی ہی قِیمت کاہِن اُس کے لِئے ٹھہرائے۔
My point of view about above verses
God told Israelite that if someone vow to give something to the God by his own free will - as giving something to God by Vow is not a command but a free will of a person - For instance a person vows that he will give his son or daughter to the God to serve in temple - but later its not possible for him to keep the vow - So God has set a value to redeem the person from the vow by paying a price
And price to pay for redemption will be according to the gender and age of that particular person - as younger people can do more work so their price will be more as compare to children and older people - similarly men are more productive for physical work so their price will be more than women
God has set the price in Shekel (currency of Israel) for infant, child, boy, girl, man. and woman of different ages - And he also tells that if a person is so poor to pay the price then priest has to set price according to the worth of person took the vow to the God
Let God give us wisdom to understand his word and apply in our lives
We need to live in this world as God wants us to live - we have to do what he is telling us to do- as it is in our advantage in the long run
