Deuteronomy 19 ; verse 16-21
Witnesses
16 If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse someone of a crime, 17 the two people involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time. 18 The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against a fellow Israelite, 19 then do to the false witness as that witness intended to do to the other party. You must purge the evil from among you. 20 The rest of the people will hear of this and be afraid, and never again will such an evil thing be done among you. 21 Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
16 “کو ئی گواہ کسی آدمی کو جھوٹ بول کر اور یہ کہہ کر کہ اُس نے قصور کیا ہے اسے نقصان پہنچا نے کی کوشش کر سکتا ہے۔ 17 اگر ایسا ہو تا ہے تو دونوں کو خداوند کے سامنے جانا چا ہئے جہاں پر منصف اور کا ہن انکا فیصلہ کریں گے جو کہ اس وقت خدمت کا کام انجام دیتے ہیں۔ 18 منصفوں کو ہوشیاری کے ساتھ سوالا ت کرنا چا ہئے۔ وہ پتہ لگا سکتے ہیں کہ گواہ نے دوسرے آدمی کے خلا ف جھو ٹ بولا ہے اگر گواہ نے جھو ٹ بولا ہے تو ، 19 تمہیں اسے سزا دینی چا ہئے۔ تمہیں اس کے ساتھ وہی کرنا چا ہئے جو اس نے دوسروں کے ساتھ کرنا چا ہا۔ اس طرح تم اپنے درمیان سے کو ئی بھی بُرا ئی کو باہر کر سکتے ہو۔ 20 دوسرے تمام لوگ اسے سُنیں گے اور خوف زدہ ہو ں گے اور کو ئی بھی ویسی بُرا ئی نہیں کرے گا۔
21 “تم اس پر رحم نہ کرو جسے بُرا ئی کی وجہ سے تم سزا دینا چا ہتے ہو۔ زندگی کے لئے زندگی ، آنکھ کے بدلے آنکھ، دانت کے بدلے دانت ، ہا تھ کے بدلے ہا تھ ، اور پیر کے بدلے پیر لیا جانا چا ہئے یہ اصول ہے۔
My point of view about above verses
A matter must be established by testimony of two or three witnesses and not one
If a witness proved liar then judges has to investigate him thoroughly and has to do with him same which he intend to do with the person against whom he is witnessing. Show no pity in such cases – life for life, eye for eye , foot for foot, hand for hand and tooth for tooth and by this way you will eliminate evil among you
God is wise and knows our natures so to settle a matter which is not as per law - He wants us to take decision after having testimonies of 2 or 3 people
May God give us wisdom to understand his word and apply it in our lives
