Deuteronomy 29 ; verse 22-29
Renewal of the Covenant
22 Your children who follow you in later generations and foreigners who come from distant lands will see the calamities that have fallen on the land and the diseases with which the Lord has afflicted it. 23 The whole land will be a burning waste of salt and sulfur—nothing planted, nothing sprouting, no vegetation growing on it. It will be like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, which the Lord overthrew in fierce anger. 24 All the nations will ask: “Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger?”
25 And the answer will be: “It is because this people abandoned the covenant of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, the covenant he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt. 26 They went off and worshiped other gods and bowed down to them, gods they did not know, gods he had not given them. 27 Therefore the Lord’s anger burned against this land, so that he brought on it all the curses written in this book. 28 In furious anger and in great wrath the Lord uprooted them from their land and thrust them into another land, as it is now.”
29 The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
22 “مستقبل میں تمہا ری نسل اور بہت دور کے ملکوں سے آنے وا لے غیر ملکی لوگ دیکھیں گے کہ ملک کیسے برباد ہو گیا ہے۔ وہ لوگ ان تباہیوں اور بیماریوں کو دیکھیں گے جسے خداوند نے اس ملک میں لا یا ہے۔ 23 سارا ملک جلتے گندھک اور نمک سے ڈھک جانے کی وجہ سے بے کا ر ہو جا ئے گا۔زمین میں بویا ہوا کچھ بھی نہیں رہے گا۔ یہاں تک کہ کھرپتوار بھی یہاں نہیں اُگیں گی۔ یہ ملک اُن شہروں سدوم ، عُمورہ ، ادمہ اور ضبو ئم کی طرح تباہ کردیا جا ئے گا۔ جنہیں خداوند نے اس وقت تباہ کیا جب وہ بہت غصّے میں تھا۔
24 “سبھی دوسری قوم پو چھیں گے خداوند نے اس ملک کے ساتھ ایسا کیوں کیا ؟ وہ اِتنا غصّہ میں کیوں آیا؟
25 جواب ہو گا : خداوند اس لئے غصّہ میں آیا کہ بنی اسرا ئیلیوں نے خداوند اپنے آبا ’و اجداد کے خدا کے معاہدہ کو تو ڑا انہوں نے اُس معاہدہ کی تعمیل کرنا بند کردی جسے خداوند نے ان کے ساتھ اس وقت کیا تھا جب وہ انہیں مصر کے ملک سے باہر لا یا تھا۔ 26 بنی اسرا ئیلیوں نے ایسے دوسرے دیوتاؤں کی خدمت کرنی شروع کی جنکی پرستش کا علم انہیں پہلے کبھی نہیں تھا۔ خداوند نے ان لوگوں سے ان دیوتاؤں کی پرستش کرنے کو منع کیا تھا۔ 27 یہی وجہ ہے کہ خداوند اس ملک کے لوگوں کے خلا ف بہت غصّہ میں آ گیا اس لئے اس نے اس کتاب میں لکھے گئے سبھی لعنتوں کو ان پر مسلط کیا۔ 28 خداوند اُن پر بہت غضبناک ہوا اور اُن پر زلزلہ اٹھا اس لئے اسنے ان کے ملک سے انہیں باہر کیا۔ اس نے انہیں دوسرے ملک میں پہنچا یا جہاں وہ آج ہیں۔
29 کچھ ایسی باتیں ہیں جنہیں خداوند ہمارے خدا نے پوشیدہ رکھا ہے۔ اُن باتوں کو صرف وہی جانتا ہے۔ لیکن خدانے ہمیں تعلیمات کی جانکاری دی ہے۔ وہ تعلیمات ہمارے لئے اور ہماری نسلوں کے لئے ہمیشہ کے لئے ہیں اور ہمیں اس تعلیمات کی ہربات کی اطاعت کرنی چا ہئے۔
My point of view about above verses
God enters into a covenant with Israelites and foreigners living in your camps as He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – this covenant is not only with those who are present here but with future generations also
God renewed the contract with Isralites when he gave the land as he promised with Abraham that this land will belong to your generations - if you follow the terms of the contract you will prosper, otherwise
Your generations and foreigners living in your land see the calamities and diseases fallen on you – the land will be barren – it will be worse than destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah- God will do this in his anger and other nations will ask why the Lord do this
God made the land barren because Israelites abandoned the covenant of the Lord and worshipped other idols – so the Lord’s anger burned against them so he brought on them all curses written in this book
The things revealed to us is to follow and secret things belong to Lord
Our God is God who fulfills His promises even with our generations to follow, so lets teach our children to live as God wants us to live as ultimately its for our benefit
May God give us wisdom to understand His Word and apply it in our lives
