Joshua; Chapter 20 Verse 1-6
Cities of Refuge
Then the Lord said to Joshua: 2 “Tell the Israelites to designate the cities of refuge, as I instructed you through Moses, 3 so that anyone who kills a person accidentally and unintentionally may flee there and find protection from the avenger of blood. 4 When they flee to one of these cities, they are to stand in the entrance of the city gate and state their case before the elders of that city. Then the elders are to admit the fugitive into their city and provide a place to live among them. 5 If the avenger of blood comes in pursuit, the elders must not surrender the fugitive, because the fugitive killed their neighbor unintentionally and without malice aforethought. 6 They are to stay in that city until they have stood trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest who is serving at that time. Then they may go back to their own home in the town from which they fled.”
محفوظ شہر
20 تب خدا وند نے یشوع سے کہا ، 2 “میں نے موسیٰ کا استعمال تم لوگوں کو حکم دینے کے لئے کیا۔ موسیٰ نے تم لوگوں سے خاص پناہ کا شہر بنانے کے لئے کہا تھا۔ اس لئے پناہ کا شہر منتخب کرو۔ 3 اگر کوئی آدمی کسی آدمی کو مار ڈالتا ہے لیکن یہ قتل محض ایک حادثہ ہے اور اگر وہ اس کو مارنے کا ارادہ نہیں کیا تھا تو وہ پناہ کے شہر کو بھاگ سکتا ہے کہ وہ اس کے رشتہ داروں سے چھپ سکے جو اُسے مارنا چاہتے ہوں۔
4 “جب وہ بھا گے اور وہ ان شہروں میں سے کسی ایک میں پہونچے تو اسے شہر کے دروازہ پر رکنا چاہئے
اسے شہر کے دروازہ پر کھڑا رہنا چاہئے اور شہر کے قائدین کو بتانا چاہئے کہ کیا حادثہ ہوا ہے۔ تب شہر کے قائد اسے شہر میں داخل ہونے کی اجازت دے سکتے ہیں۔ وہ اس کو اپنے درمیان رہنے کی جگہ دیں گے۔ 5 لیکن وہ آدمی جو اسکا پیچھا کر رہا ہو۔ ہو سکتا ہے وہ شہر تک اسکا پیچھا کرے اگر ایسا ہوتا ہے تو شہر کے قائدین کو اسے یونہی نہیں چھوڑ دینا چاہئے۔ بلکہ انہیں اس آدمی کی حفاظت کرنی چاہئے جو ان کے پاس بچنے کے لئے آیا ہے۔ کیوں کہ اس نے جسے مار ڈالا ہے اس کو مارڈالنے کا اس کا ارادہ نہیں تھا۔ یہ اتفاقی حادثہ تھا وہ غصّہ میں نہیں تھا۔ اور نہ ہی اس آدمی کو مار ڈالنے کا منصوبہ بنایا تھا۔ یہ کچھ ایسا تھا جو کہ ہو گیا۔ 6 اس آدمی کو اسوقت تک پناہ کے شہر میں رہنا چاہئے جب تک اس کے شہر کی عدالت فیصلہ نہ سنائے یا سردار کاہن مر نہ جائے۔ پھر وہ اپنے گھر اس شہر میں واپس جا سکتا ہے جہاں سے وہ بھاگ کر آیا تھا۔ ”
My point of view about above verses
God told Joshua tell the Israelites to designate cities of refuge – so that if someone kills a person may flee to that city and find protection – the elder of the city heard the plea and give him place to live as refuge – and if avenger follows him they should not handover him as what he did is unintentional – Refugee have to stay in city and stood trial before the assembly and until the death of the high priest after that he may go back to their own town from which he fled
God forgives if we do something un- intentionally and even protects us from avenger
May God give us wisdom to understand His Word and apply it in our lives
