Judges; Chapter 6 Verse 30-32
30 The people of the town demanded of Joash, “Bring out your son. He must die, because he has broken down Baal’s altar and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.”
31 But Joash replied to the hostile crowd around him, “Are you going to plead Baal’s cause? Are you trying to save him? Whoever fights for him shall be put to death by morning! If Baal really is a god, he can defend himself when someone breaks down his altar.” 32 So because Gideon broke down Baal’s altar, they gave him the name Jerub-Baal that day, saying, “Let Baal contend with him.”
30 اس لئے شہر کے لوگ یوآس کے پاس آئے انہوں نے یوآس سے کہا ، “تمہیں اپنے بیٹے کو باہر لانا چاہئے۔ اس نے بعل کی قربان گاہ کو گرایا ہے اور اس نے اس یسیرت کے ستون کو کاٹا ہے جو اس قربان گاہ کے پاس تھا اس لئے تمہارے بیٹے کو مارا جانا چاہئے۔”
31 تب یوآس نے اس مجمع سے کہا ، “جو اسکے اطراف کھڑا تھا۔ کیا تم بعل کی جانبداری کر رہے ہو ؟ کیا تم بعل کی حفاظت کرنے جا رہے ہو ؟ اگر کو ئی بعل کی طرفداری کر تا ہے تو اسے سویرے تک موت کے گھاٹ اتار دیا جائے۔ اگر بعل حقیقت میں خدا وند ہے تو اسے اپنی
فاظت ضرور کر نے دو۔ اگر کو ئی اس قربان گاہ کو گراتا ہے۔” 32 اس دن یوآس نے جدعون کا نام یر بعل رکھا یوآس نے ایسا کیا کیوں کہ اس نے کہا : “بعل کو جد عون سے بحث کر نے دو کیوں کہ اس نے بعل کی قربان گاہ کو ڈھا دیا ہے۔
My point of view about above verses
Lord became very angry with Israel and said as this nation has violated the covenant I made with their ancestors – I will no longer drive other nations out and will test Israel through them whether they follow the way of the Lord as their ancestors did
People want to kill Gideon as he destroyed Baal altar but Gideon Father told them - if Baal is god - let him fight for his cause
When we returns to God, he plans for our rescue, he make our enemies our friends - like Gideon Father as now he is pleading for Gideon -who tear down the altar his father built for Baal
May God give us wisdom to understand His Word and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
