Elijah and Obadiah
Elijah on Mount Carmel
22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. 23 Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. 24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.”
Then all the people said, “What you say is good.”
25 Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.” 26 So they took the bull given them and prepared it. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. “Baal, answer us!” they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.
2 اس لئے ایلیا ہ نے کہا ، “یہاں صرف میں ہی خداوند کا نبی ہو ں لیکن یہاں بعل کے ۴۵۰ نبی ہیں۔ 23 اس لئے دوسانڈ لا ؤ۔ بعل کے نبی ایک سانڈ لیں اور اس کو ذبح کرکے ٹکڑے ٹکڑے کریں پھر گوشت کو لکڑی پر رکھیں۔ لیکن جلنے کیلئے آ گ نہ لگاؤ۔ دوسرے سانڈ کو لے کر میں بھی ایسا ہی کرو ں گا۔ اور میں بھی آ گ نہیں لگاؤ ں گا۔ 24 اے بعل کے نبیو اپنے دیوتاسے دعا کرو۔ اور جس کی بھی لکڑیاں جلنی شروع ہو جا ئیں وہی سچا خدا ہے۔”
تمام لوگو ں نے اس کو قبول کیا کہ یہ ایک اچھا خیال ہے۔
25 تب ایلیاہ نے بعل کے نبیوں سے کہا ، “تم بہت سارے ہو اس لئے تم پہلے جا ؤ سانڈ کو چن کر تیار کرو لیکن آ گ جلانی شروع نہ کرو۔”
26 پھر نبیوں نے ا س سانڈ کو لیا جو انہیں دیا گیا تھا اور اسے تیار کیا۔ پھر وہ لوگ بعل سے دوپہر تک دعا کئے لیکن نہ کو ئی آواز تھی اور نہ ہی کسی نے جواب دیا۔ نبیوں نے اپنی بنائی ہو ئی قربان گاہ کے اطراف ناچ کئے لیکن آ گ نہیں جلی۔
My point of view about above verses
God told Elijah – go and present yourself to Ahab and I will send rain on the land and he did so
God use Elijah to speak to king
Its God only Who uses us for specific purpose - question is are we receptive to listen God so lets be in continous connection with Him to live a life He wants us to live - just to obey Him and wonders happen
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
