2 Kings ; Chapter 20 verse 7-11
Hezekiah’s Illness
7 Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.
8 Hezekiah had asked Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me and that I will go up to the temple of the Lord on the third day from now?”
9 Isaiah answered, “This is the Lord’s sign to you that the Lord will do what he has promised: Shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or shall it go back ten steps?”
10 “It is a simple matter for the shadow to go forward ten steps,” said Hezekiah. “Rather, have it go back ten steps.”
11 Then the prophet Isaiah called on the Lord, and the Lord made the shadow go back the ten steps it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.
7 تب یسعیاہ نے کہا ، “انجیر کا مخلوط بناؤ اور اسے زخم کی جگہ پر لگا ؤ۔”
اس لئے انہوں نے انجیر کا مخلوط بنا یا اور حزقیاہ کے زخم کی جگہ پر لگا یا تب حزقیاہ اچھا ہو گیا۔
حزقیاہ کے لئے ایک نشان
8 حزقیاہ نے یسعیاہ سے کہا، “اس کی نشانی کیا ہو گی کہ خداوند مجھے تندرست کرے گا تا کہ میں خداوند کی ہیکل کو تیسرے دن جاؤں۔”
9 یسعیاہ نے پو چھا، “تم کیا نشان چاہتے ہو ؟کیا سایہ کو دس قدم آگے یا دس قدم پیچھے جانا چا ہئے ؟ یہی نشان خداوند کی طرف ہے تمہیں دکھانے کے لئے کہ جو خداوند نے فیصلہ اور اعلان کردیا ہے وہ ضرور کرے گا۔”
10 حزقیاہ نےجواب دیا ، “سایہ کیلئے دس قدم آگے جانا آسان ہے۔ نہیں،اس کے بجائے دس قدم پیچھے جانے دو۔”
11 تب یسعیاہ نے خداوند سے دعا کی اور خداوند نے سایہ کو دس قدم پیچھے ہٹایا۔سایہ آخز کے گھر کی سیڑ ھیوں پر سے دس قدم پیچھے ہٹا۔
My point of view about above verses
God was with Hezekiah king as he followed Lord’s commands – There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah
Isaiah told Hezekiah that Lord says put your house in order because you are going to die, you will not recover
Hezekiah wept bitterly and asked God to heal him as he want to live – So God told Isaiah tell Hezekiah that i have seen your tears and heard your prayer so I have added 15 years to your life and I will deliver you & this city from the king of Assyria and I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David
Hezekiah asked for a sign that God will heal him so he said let the shadow go back the ten steps & Lord did it
- God heals us during sickness- just we need to ask for mercy
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
