 Jeremiah 14, verse 19-22

Drought, Famine, Sword

19 Have you rejected Judah completely?     Do you despise Zion? Why have you afflicted us     so that we cannot be healed? We hoped for peace     but no good has come, for a time of healing     but there is only terror. 20 We acknowledge our wickedness, Lord,     and the guilt of our ancestors;     we have indeed sinned against you.

21 For the sake of your name do not despise us;     do not dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your covenant with us     and do not break it. 22 Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?     Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, Lord our God.     Therefore our hope is in you,     for you are the one who does all this.

19 اے خداوند! کیا تو نے پو ری طرح سے یہودا ہ کو چھوڑدیا ہے؟

    اے خداوند! کیا تو صیون کو سچ مچ میں چھوڑدیا ہے؟

تو نے اسے اس طرح سے چوٹ پہنچا ئی ہے

    کہ وہ پھر سے اچھے نہیں بنا ئے جا سکتے ہیں۔

تو نے ویسا کیوں کیا؟ ہم سلامتی چا ہتے ہیں۔

    لیکن کچھ بھی اچھا نہیں ہوا۔

ہم لوگ اپنے زخموں کو بھر نے کی امید رکھتے تھے

    لیکن ہم لوگ زیادہ سے زیادہ مصیبتوں سے گذرتے ہیں۔

20 اے خداوند ہم جانتے ہیں کہ ہم بہت برے لوگ ہیں، 

    ہاں ہم نے تیرے خلاف گنا ہ کئے۔

21 اے خداوند! اپنے نام کی اچھا ئی کی خاطر تو ہمیں دھکا دے کر دور نہ کر

    اور اپنے جلال کے تخت کی تحقیر نہ کر۔

ہمارے ساتھ کئے گئے معاہدے کو یادرکھ اور

    اسے نہ تو ڑ۔

22 قوموں کے بتوں میں بارش لانے کی قوت نہیں ہے۔

    وہ آسمان سے بارش نہیں برسا سکتے ہيں۔

اے خدا وند صرف تو ہی ہماری امید ہے

    اور تو نے ہی یہ سب کام کیا ہے۔” 

My point of view about above verses

God tell Jeremiah about draught and said that inhabitants and nobels will be disturbed as they will not find water and feel ashamed - Farmers and birds are in distressed because of harsh weather iniatated by God 

God told me don’t pray for these people although they fast, offer burnt offerings, I will not accept them – I will destroy them with sword, famine and plague

God said they love to go here and there so Lord will remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins

I told God that prophets are telling them that there will be peace – God told me they are prophesying to you false visions in my name but I didn't send  them – so all the prophets will be thrown into the streets of Jerusalem because of famine and sword – there will be no one to bury them – I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve

God said I mourn for them as they, theirs prophets and priests will go into exile because of forsaking me and worshipping other gods

Isralites are saying God have you despise us completely - if yes please do not do this as Our hope is in you always 

May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this word and prophets - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
