Numbers 3 ; verse 40 - 51
40 The Lord said to Moses, “Count all the firstborn Israelite males who are a month old or more and make a list of their names. 41 Take the Levites for me in place of all the firstborn of the Israelites, and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the firstborn of the livestock of the Israelites. I am the Lord.”
42 So Moses counted all the firstborn of the Israelites, as the Lord commanded him. 43 The total number of firstborn males a month old or more, listed by name, was 22,273.
44 The Lord also said to Moses, 45 “Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites are to be mine. I am the Lord. 46 To redeem the 273 firstborn Israelites who exceed the number of the Levites, 47 collect five shekels for each one, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. 48 Give the money for the redemption of the additional Israelites to Aaron and his sons.”
49 So Moses collected the redemption money from those who exceeded the number redeemed by the Levites. 50 From the firstborn of the Israelites he collected silver weighing 1,365 shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel. 51 Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, as he was commanded by the word of the Lord.
41)اور بنی اِسرائیل کے سب پہلوٹھوں کے عِوض لاوِیوں کو اور بنی اِسرائیل کے چَوپایوں کے سب پہلوٹھوں کے عِوض لاوِیوں کے چَوپایوں کو میرے لِئے لے مَیں خُداوند ہُوں۔
(42)چُنانچہ مُوسیٰ نے خُداوند کے حُکم کے مُطابِق بنی اِسرائیل کے سب پہلوٹھوں کو گِنا۔
(43)سو جِتنے نرینہ پہلوٹھے ایک مہِینے اور اُس سے اُوپر اُوپر کی عُمر کے گِنے گئے وہ ناموں کے شُمار کے مُطابِق بائِیس ہزار دو سَو تہتّر تھے۔
(44)اور خُداوند نے مُوسیٰ سے کہا کہ۔
(45)بنی اِسرائیل کے سب پہلوٹھوں کے بدلے لاوِیوں کو اور اُن کے چَوپایوں کے بدلے لاوِیوں کے چَوپایوں کو لے اور لاوی میرے ہوں ۔ مَیں خُداوند ہُوں۔
(46)اور بنی اِسرائیل کے پہلوٹھوں میں جو دو سَو تِہتّر لاوِیوں کے شُمار سے زِیادہ ہیں اُن کے فِدیہ کے لِئے۔
(47)تُو مَقدِس کی مِثقال کے حِساب سے فی کس پانچ مِثقال لینا (ایک مِثقال بِیس جِیراہ کا ہوتا ہے)۔
(48)اور اِن کے فِدیہ کا رُوپیہ جو شُمار میں زِیادہ ہیں تُو ہارُون اور اُس کے بیٹوں کو دینا۔
(49)سو جو اُن سے جِن کو لاوِیوں نے چُھڑایا تھا شُمار میں زِیادہ نِکلے تھے اُن کے فِدیہ کا رُوپیہ مُوسیٰ نے اُن سے لِیا۔
(50)یہ رُوپیہ اُس نے بنی اِسرائیل کے پہلوٹھوں سے لیا ۔ سو مَقدِس کی مِثقال کے حِساب سے ایک ہزار تِین سَو پینسٹھ مِثقالیں وصُول ہُوئِیں۔
(51)اور مُوسیٰ نے خُداوند کے حُکم کے مُطابِق فِدیہ کا رُوپیہ جَیسا خُداوند نے مُوسیٰ کو فرمایا تھا ہارُون اور اُس کے بیٹوں کو دِیا۔
My point of view about above verses
God told Moses as all first born belongs to him as they are considered best and favored so to redeem them God took Levites thus Israelite first born redeemed by Levites - So Moses counted first born of all Isralites and their number was 22,273 and number of Levites were 22,000 - so for balance of 273 first born, Israelite has to pay 5 shekels per baby boy (a month old and above) - and the amount so collected to be given to Aaron & his sons -
Also for livestock of Levites - take the first born of livestock of Israelite for redemption
From the very beginning God has a plan for his people that how to redeem them - Just we need to listen to Him and obey what he asks us -
As in the long run - whatever He does is for the betterment of us - Let us trust him
Let God give us wisdom to understand his word and apply it in our lives
