Numbers 8 ; verse 20- 26
The Setting Apart of the Levites
20 Moses, Aaron and the whole Israelite community did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses. 21 The Levites purified themselves and washed their clothes. Then Aaron presented them as a wave offering before the Lord and made atonement for them to purify them. 22 After that, the Levites came to do their work at the tent of meeting under the supervision of Aaron and his sons. They did with the Levites just as the Lord commanded Moses.
23 The Lord said to Moses, 24 “This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years old or more shall come to take part in the work at the tent of meeting, 25 but at the age of fifty, they must retire from their regular service and work no longer. 26 They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the tent of meeting, but they themselves must not do the work. This, then, is how you are to assign the responsibilities of the Levites.”
(20)چُنانچہ مُوسیٰ اور ہارُون اور بنی اِسرائیل کی ساری جماعت نے لاوِیوں سے اَیسا ہی کِیا ۔ جو کُچھ خُداوند نے لاوِیوں کے بارے میں مُوسیٰ کو حُکم دِیا تھا وَیسا ہی بنی اِسرائیل نے اُن کے ساتھ کِیا۔
(21)اور لاوِیوں نے اپنے آپ کو گُناہ سے پاک کر کے اپنے کپڑے دھوئے اور ہارُون نے اُن کو ہِلانے کی قُربانی کے لِئے خُداوند کے حضُور گُذرانا اور ہارُون نے اُن کی طرف سے کفّارہ دِیا تاکہ وہ پاک ہو جائیں۔
(22)اِس کے بعد لاوی اپنی خِدمت بجا لانے کو ہارُون اور اُس کے بیٹوں کے سامنے خَیمۂِ اِجتماع میں جانے لگے ۔ سو جَیسا خُداوند نے لاوِیوں کی بابت مُوسیٰ کو حُکم دِیا تھا اُنہوں نے وَیسا ہی اُن کے ساتھ کِیا۔
(23)پِھر خُداوند نے مُوسیٰ سے کہا۔
(24)لاوِیوں کے مُتعلّق جو بات ہے وہ یہ ہے کہ پچّیس برس سے لے کر اُس سے اُوپر اُوپر کی عُمر میں وہ خَیمۂِ اِجتماع کی خِدمت کے کام کے لِئے اندر حاضِر ہُؤا کریں۔
(25)اور جب پچاس برس کے ہوں تو پِھر اُس کام کے لِئے نہ آئیں اور نہ خِدمت کریں۔
(26)بلکہ خَیمۂِ اِجتماع میں اپنے بھائیوں کے ساتھ نِگہبانی کے کام میں مشغُول ہوں اور کوئی خِدمت نہ کریں ۔ لاوِیوں کو جو جو کام سَونپے جائیں اُن کے مُتعلّق تُو اُن سے اَیسا ہی کرنا۔
My point of view about above verses
God told Moses to take Levites from tribe of Israel and dedicate them to the Lord - Nation is offering Levites as a portion dedicate to God fully - God took Levites against the first born of Israelites and Levites has been give to Aaron (priest) to perform the work of tabernacle - So Levites are on service of God's house and make atonement for entire nation.
So dedication towards the Lord is start of practical work in the way God want us to do
God told Moses that men 25 year and older till the age of 50 from Levites should take part in work at the tent of meeting- (means we need to work for God in our prime age) But the men older than this must retire from their work and only assist their brothers to perform duties but they themselves not do the work
Let God give us wisdom to understand his word and help us to apply it in our lives
