Deuteronomy 21 ; verse 1-9
Atonement for an Unsolved Murder
If someone is found slain, lying in a field in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who the killer was, 2 your elders and judges shall go out and measure the distance from the body to the neighboring towns. 3 Then the elders of the town nearest the body shall take a heifer that has never been worked and has never worn a yoke 4 and lead it down to a valley that has not been plowed or planted and where there is a flowing stream. There in the valley they are to break the heifer’s neck. 5 The Levitical priests shall step forward, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister and to pronounce blessings in the name of the Lord and to decide all cases of dispute and assault. 6 Then all the elders of the town nearest the body shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley, 7 and they shall declare: “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it done. 8 Accept this atonement for your people Israel, whom you have redeemed, Lord, and do not hold your people guilty of the blood of an innocent person.” Then the bloodshed will be atoned for, 9 and you will have purged from yourselves the guilt of shedding innocent blood, since you have done what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
اگر کو ئی آدمی قتل کیا ہوا پایا جا ئے
21 “اس ملک میں جسے خداوند تمہا رے خدا تمہیں رہنے کیلئے دے رہا ہے اگر کو ئی لاش کھیت میں پڑی ہو ئی ملے اور کو ئی نہیں جانتا ہو کہ اس شخص کو کس نے ما را ہے، 2 تب تمہا رے قائدین اور منصف کو لاش اور اس کے اطراف کے شہروں کی بیچ کی دوری کو ناپنا چا ہئے۔ 3 جب تم یہ جان جا ؤ کہ لا ش کے قریب کون سا شہر ہے۔ تب اس شہر کے قائدین اپنے جھُنڈ میں سے ایک بچھڑا لا ئینگے جس کا استعمال کبھی بھی کسی کام کے کرنے میں نہ ہو ا ہو اور جو کبھی بھی جوا نہیں کھینچا ہو۔ 4 اس شہر کے قائدین اس بچھڑے کو بہتے ہو ئے پانی وا لے وادی میں لا ئیں گے یہ ایسی وا دی ہونی چا ہئے جسے پہلے کبھی جو تی نہ گئی ہو اور نہ اس میں درخت اور پو دے اگائے گئے ہوں۔ تب قا ئدین کو اس وادی میں اس بچھڑے کی گردن توڑدینی چا ہئے۔ 5 لا وی نسل کے کا ہنوں کو وہاں جانا چا ہئے ( خداوند تمہا رے خدا نے اُن کا
ہنوں کو اپنی خدمت کے لئے اور اپنے نام پر برکتیں دینے کیلئے چُنا ہے۔) کا ہن یہ طئے کریں گے ہر ایک جھگڑے یا حملے کے با رے میں کون سچا ہے۔ 6 لا ش کے قریبی شہر کے قائدین اپنے ہا تھوں کو اس بچھڑا کے اوپر دھو ئیں گے جس کی گردن وا دی میں تو ڑ دی گئی ہو۔ 7 یہ قائدین ضرور کہیں گے ہم لوگوں نے یہ خون نہیں بہایا ہے اور ہم لوگوں نے ایسا ہو تے ہو ئے نہیں دیکھا ہے۔ 8 اے خداوند اپنے بنی اسرا ئیلیوں کے لئے جسے کہ تو نے بچا یا ہے کفارہ دے۔ اس معصوم شخص کے قتل کیلئے ہم لوگوں کو بدنام نہ کر۔ تب وہ لوگ ایک معصوم شخص کے لئے بدنام نہیں کئے جا ئیں گے۔ 9 اُن معاملوں میں وہ کرنا ہی تمہا رے لئے ٹھیک ہے۔ ایسا کرکے تم قصور کو اپنے گروہ سے نکال دو گے۔
My point of view about above verses
If some one is killed in your town and killer is not known- The judges should go out and measure the distance from the body to neighboring towns- Then the elders of town nearest to body shall take a heifer that has never been worked and take it to valley where there is flowing stream – then in the valley they are to break heifer’s neck. Then all the elders of the town shall wash their hand over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley. And they declare that our hands did not shed this blood not our eyes seen who did it. Accept this atonement for your people Israelites and don’t hold your people guilty of the blood of an innocent person.
Innocent Blood shed pollutes the land and God want us to keep our land sacred
May God give us wisdom to understand his word and apply it in our lives
