2Samuel ; Chapter 24 Verse 10- 17
10 David was conscience-stricken after he had counted the fighting men, and he said to the Lord, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing.”
11 Before David got up the next morning, the word of the Lord had come to Gad the prophet, David’s seer: 12 “Go and tell David, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.’”
13 So Gad went to David and said to him, “Shall there come on you three years of famine in your land? Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you? Or three days of plague in your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer the one who sent me.”
14 David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”
15 So the Lord sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died. 16 When the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was afflicting the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
17 When David saw the angel who was striking down the people, he said to the Lord, “I have sinned; I, the shepherd, have done wrong. These are but sheep. What have they done? Let your hand fall on me and my family.”
خدا وند کا داؤد کو سزا دینا
10 تب داؤد لوگوں کی گنتی کرنے کے بعد شرمندہ ہوئے۔ داؤد نے خدا وند سے کہا ، “میں نے یہ کام کرکے بہت بڑا گناہ کیا۔ خدا وند میں تجھ سے التجا کرتا ہوں کہ تو میرے گناہوں کو معاف کر میں نے بڑی بے وقوفی کی ہے۔
11 جب داؤد صبح اٹھا تو خدا وند کا پیغا م “سیر” جاد پر نازل ہوا۔ 12 خدا وند نے جاد سے کہا ، “جاؤ اور داؤد سے کہو خدا وند جو کہتا ہے وہ یہ ہے : میں تمہیں تین چیزیں پیش کرتا ہوں ان میں سے ایک کو چنو جسے میں تمہارے لئے کروں گا۔”
13 جاد داؤد کے پاس گیا اور کہا۔ جاد نے داؤد کو کہا ، “ان تین چیزوں میں سے ایک کو چن لو :
۱۔ تمہارے اور تمہارے ملک کے لئے سات سال قحط سالی۔
۲۔ تمہارے دشمن تمہارا پیچھا تین مہینے تک کریں گے
۳۔ تمہارے ملک میں تین دن تک طاعون (
مہلک وبا) پھیلے۔
اس کے متعلق سوچو اور ان میں سے ایک کو چن لو اور میں تمہارے انتحاب کے بارے میں خدا وند کو اطلاع کروں گا۔ خدا وند نے مجھے تمہارے پاس بھیجا ہے۔ ”
14 داؤد نے جاد سے کہا ، “میں حقیقت میں مصیبت زدہ ہوں لیکن خدا وند بڑا رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ اس لئے خدا وند کو ہمیں سزا دینے دو۔ میں خدا وند سے سزا پانے کے لئے تیار ہوں بہ نسبت انسانوں کے۔”
15 اس لئے خدا وند نے اسرائیل میں بیماری بھیجی۔ یہ صبح سے شروع ہوئی اور چنے ہوئے وقت تک جاری رہی۔ دان سے بیر سبع تک ۰۰۰,۷۰ لوگ مر گئے۔ 16 فرشتے نے اپنے بازو یروشلم پر تباہ کرنے کے لئے پھیلا دیئے۔ لیکن لوگوں کی مصیبت کے لئے خدا وند کو بہت افسوس ہوا۔ خدا وند نے اس فرشتے سے جس نے لوگوں کو تباہ کیا تھا کہا ، “اتنا بس ہے اپنے بازو نیچے کرلو۔” خدا وند کا فرشتہ یبوسی اروناہ کے کھلیان کے کنارے تھا۔

17 داؤد نے اس فرشتہ کو دیکھا جس نے لوگوں کو مارا۔ داؤد نے خدا وند سے کہا۔ داؤد نے کہا ، “میں نے گناہ کیا ، میں نے غلطی کی ہے لیکن ان لوگوں نے صرف وہی کیا جو میں نے انکو کرنے کو کہا۔ انہوں نے کوئی غلطی نہیں کی۔ براہ کرم سزا مجھے اور میرے باپ کے خاندان کو دے۔”
My point of view about above verses
David showed his love and reverence towards God - and God responded by making his name in the world and his kingdom in world will never cease - This is God's promise to David
When David counted the fighting men – he felt guilty then the word of the Lord came to prophet Gad (David’s seer) that God is giving you three options , choose one of them for me to carry out against you
When David chose from on punishment out of three to fall into the hands of the Lord for His mercy is great, but do not let me fall into human hands – so Lord send a plague & 70,000 Israelites died
God is just and He want everyone to obey Him fully - otherwise His punishment is harsh
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
