1 Kings ; Chapter 3 Verse 6-15
Solomon answered, “You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
7 “Now, Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 14 And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.” 15 Then Solomon awoke—and he realized it had been a dream.
6 سلیمان نے جواب دیا ، “آپ اپنے خادموں پر میرے باپ داؤد پر مہربان تھے وہ تمہارے ساتھ چلا۔ وہ اچھّا تھا اور صحیح رہا اور تو نے بڑی عظیم مہربانیاں اس پر کیں جب تو نے اس کے بیٹے کو اس کے تخت پر اس کے بعد حکومت کرنے کی اجازت دی۔ 7 خدا وند میرے خدا تو نے مجھے میرے باپ کی جگہ اپنا خادم کو بادشاہ بنایا۔ لیکن میں ایک چھو ٹے بچے کی مانند ہوں۔ مجھے عقل نہیں ہے جو چیزیں مجھے کرنا چاہئے وہ کیسے کروں میں نہیں جانتا ہوں۔ 8 میں تیرا خادم یہاں تیرے چنے ہو ئے لوگوں میں ہوں۔ وہ بہت سارے لوگ ہیں ان کو گننے کے لئے کئی ہیں۔ اس لئے ایک حاکم کو ان میں کئی فیصلے کرنے ہیں۔ 9 اس ئے میں تم سے پو چھتا ہوں کہ مجھے عقل دو تا کہ میں حکو مت کرسکوں اور لوگوں کو صحیح طریقے سے جانچ سکوں۔ اس سے میں صحیح اور غلط کو جانچ سکو ں گا بغیر کسی عقل کے ان عظیم لوگوں پر حکو مت کر نا نا ممکن ہے۔”
10 خدا وند خوش تھا کہ سلیمان نے ان چیزوں کے لئے اس کو پو چھا۔ 11 اس لئے خدا نے اس کو کہا ، “تم نے اپنے لئے لمبی عمر نہیں مانگی اور تم نے اپنے لئے دولت نہیں مانگی۔ تم نے اپنے دشمنوں کے لئے موت نہیں مانگی۔ تم نے عقل مانگی تاکہ صحیح فیصلے کر سکو۔ 12
اس لئے میں تمہیں وہ دونگا جو تم نے مانگا ہے۔ میں تمہیں عقلمند اور ہوشیار بناؤ نگا۔ میں تمہیں ہر اس شخص سے زیادہ عقلمند بناؤ نگا جو پہلے رہا ہے اور تمہارے بعد رہے گا۔ 13 میں تمہیں وہ چیزیں دونگا جو تم نے نہیں مانگیں۔ تمہاری ساری زندگی میں تم دولت مند اور عزت والے ہو گے۔ کو ئی دوسرا بادشاہ تمہارے جیسا عظیم نہیں ہو گا۔ 14 میں تم سے کہتا ہوں کہ میرے کہنے پر چلو میری اطاعت کرو اور میرے قانون اور حکم کو مانو۔ یہ تم اسی طرح کرو جیسا کہ تمہارے باپ داؤد نے کیا اگر تم ایسا کرو گے تو میں تمہیں لمبی عمر بھی دونگا۔” 15 سلیمان جاگ گیا وہ جان گیا کہ خدا نے اس سے خواب میں باتیں کیں
My point of view about above verses
God appeared to Solomon in a dream after he offered thousand burnt offerings on the altar – and asked him – asked for whatever you want me to give you
God told Solomon as you asked for a discerning heart and didn't ask for wealth or long life or death of your enemies – I will give you whatever you asked and also what you did not asked means wealth and honor and long life
God want from us offerings to give him honor and in return ask us what we want
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
