1 Kings ; Chapter 17 Verse 5-14
Elijah Announces a Great Drought
5 So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.
Elijah and the Widow at Zarephath
7 Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him: 9 “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.” 10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” 11 As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”
12 “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”
13 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”
ایلیاہ اور بارش کا نہ ہونا
5 اس طرح ایلیاہ نے وہی کیا جو خدا وند نے اس کو کرنے کیلئے کہا۔ وہ دریائے یردن کے مشرق میں کریت نالہ کے قریب رہنے کے لئے گیا۔ 6 کوّے ایلیاہ کے لئے ہر صبح اور ہر شام غذا لا تے۔ ایلیاہ اس ندی سے پانی پیتا۔
7 بارش نہیں ہوئی۔ کچھ عرصہ بعد ندی بھی سوکھ گئی۔ 8 تب خدا وند نے ایلیاہ سے کہا۔ 9 “ صیدون میں صارپت کو جاؤ اور وہاں رہو۔ وہاں ایک عورت ہے جس کا شوہر مر چکا ہے۔ وہ اس جگہ پر رہتی ہے میں نے اس کو حکم دیا ہے کہ تمہیں کھا نا دے۔”
10 اس لئے ایلیاہ صارپت کو گیا وہ شہر کے دروازے پر گیا اور وہاں ایک عورت کو دیکھا اس کا شوہر مر چکا تھا۔ عورت جلانے کے لئے لکڑیاں جمع کررہی تھی۔ ایلیاہ نے اس کو کہا ، “کیا تم تھوڑا پانی ایک پیالہ میں لا سکتی ہو تا کہ میں پی سکوں؟” 11 عورت اس کے لئے پانی لانے جا رہی تھی اور ایلیاہ نے کہا ، “براہ کرم ایک روٹی کا ٹکڑا بھی میرے لئے لاؤ۔”
12 عورت نے جواب دیا ، “خدا وند تیرے خدا کی حیات کی قسم میرے پاس روٹی نہیں ہے۔ میرے پاس تھوڑا آٹا مرتبان میں ہے اور تھوڑا زیتون کا تیل جگ میں ہے۔ میں یہاں اس جگہ جلانے کے لئے کچھ لکڑی کے ٹکڑے جمع کرکے لے جانے کے لئے آئی۔ میں انہیں گھر لے جاکر اپنا آخری کھا نا پکاؤنگی۔ میں اور میرا بیٹا ہم دونوں اسے کھائیں گے اور پھر بعد میں بھوک سے مرجائیں گے۔”
13 ایلیاہ نے اس عورت سے کہا ، “فکر نہ کرو گھر جاؤ اور اپنا کھانا پکاؤ جیسا کہ تم نے کہا لیکن پہلے ایک چھوٹی سی روٹی اپنے آٹے سے بناؤ اور وہ روٹی میرے پاس لاؤ۔ تب پھر اپنے اور اپنے بیٹے کے لئے کھاناپکاؤ۔ 14 خدا وند اسرائیل کا خدا کہتا ہے ، “وہ آٹے کا مرتبان کبھی خالی نہ ہوگا اور اس جگ میں ہمیشہ تیل رہے گا۔ یہ اسوقت تک جاری رہے گا جب تک کہ خدا وند بارش نہ بھیجے۔”
My point of view about above verses
God told Elijah to go eastward and hide in Kerith Ravine, east of Jordan – you will drink from the brook and raven will supply you food
When the brook dried up God told Elijah go to a widow living in Zarephat of Sidon region and stay there- I have directed a widow there to supply you with food – When he reached there he asked the widow to give me water and a piece of bread but she said she has a little oilve oil and some floor – he told him go and first make a loaf for me & then for yourself and your son as God told that this floor and oil will not finish until I send rain on the land
Its God only Who is provider - & nothing finishes until He desires so - so lets be in continous connection with Him to live a life He wants us to live
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
