Numbers 14 ; verse 1-12
The People Rebel
That night all the members of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness! 3 Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” 4 And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown in front of the whole Israelite assembly gathered there. 6 Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had explored the land, tore their clothes 7 and said to the entire Israelite assembly, “The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good. 8 If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them.”
10 But the whole assembly talked about stoning them. Then the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the Israelites. 11 The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them? 12 I will strike them down with a plague and destroy them, but I will make you into a nation greater and stronger than they.”
لوگ بُڑبُڑاتے ہیں
1تب ساری جماعت زور زور سے چِیخنے لگی اور وہ لوگ اُس رات روتے ہی رہے۔ 2اور کُل بنی اِسرائیل مُوسیٰؔ اور ہارُونؔ کی شِکایت کرنے لگے اور ساری جماعت اُن سے کہنے لگی ہائے کاش ہم مِصرؔ ہی میں مَر جاتے! یا کاش اِس بیابان ہی میں مَرتے! 3خُداوند کیوں ہم کو اُس مُلک میں لے جا کر تلوار سے قتل کرانا چاہتا ہے؟ پِھر تو ہماری بیویاں اور بال بچّے لُوٹ کا مال ٹھہریں گے۔ کیا ہمارے لِئے بِہتر نہ ہو گا کہ ہم مِصرؔ کو واپس چلے جائیں؟ 4پِھر وہ آپس میں کہنے لگے آؤ ہم کِسی کو اپنا سردار بنا لیں اور مِصرؔ کو لَوٹ چلیں۔
5تب مُوسیٰؔ اور ہارُونؔ بنی اِسرائیل کی ساری جماعت کے سامنے اَوندھے مُنہ ہو گئے۔ 6اور نُونؔ کا بیٹا یشُوعؔ اور یفُنّہؔ کا بیٹا کالِبؔ جو اُس مُلک کا حال دریافت کرنے والوں میں سے تھے اپنے اپنے کپڑے پھاڑ کر۔ 7بنی اِسرائیل کی ساری جماعت سے کہنے لگے کہ وہ مُلک جِس کا حال دریافت کرنے کو ہم اُس میں سے گُذرے نِہایت اچھّا مُلک ہے۔ 8اگر خُدا ہم سے راضی رہے تو وہ ہم کو اُس مُلک میں پُہنچائے گا اور وُہی مُلک جِس میں دُودھ اور شہد بہتا ہے ہم کو دے گا۔ 9فقط اِتنا ہو کہ تُم خُداوند سے بغاوت نہ کرو اور نہ اُس مُلک کے لوگوں سے ڈرو۔ وہ تو ہماری خُوراک ہیں۔ اُن کی پناہ اُن کے سر پر سے جاتی رہی ہے اور ہمارے ساتھ خُداوند ہے۔ سو اُن کا خَوف نہ کرو۔ 10تب ساری جماعت بول اُٹھی کہ اِن کو سنگسار کرو۔ اُس وقت خَیمۂِ اِجتماع میں سب بنی اِسرائیل کے سامنے خُداوند کا جلال نُمایاں ہُؤا۔
مُوسیٰؔ لوگوں کے لِئے درخواست کرتا ہے
11اور خُداوند نے مُوسیٰؔ سے کہا کہ یہ لوگ کب تک میری توہِین کرتے رہیں گے؟ اور باوجُود اُن سب مُعجِزوں کے جو مَیں نے اِن کے درمِیان کِئے ہیں کب تک مُجھ پر اِیمان نہیں لائیں گے؟ 12مَیں اِن کو وبا سے مارُوں گا اور مِیراث سے خارِج کرُوں گا اور تُجھے ایک اَیسی قَوم بناؤُں گا جو اِن سے کہِیں بڑی اور زِیادہ زورآور ہو۔
My point of view about above verses
God told Moses send men from each tribe to explore the land of Canaan which I am giving to Israelites - so Moses 12 men one from each tribe to explore land going to be possessed later -
God want us to be a partner in his decision making - only we need to trust him that what he is doing is good for us
When some people from Israelites including Joshua explore the land and report back that the people of land is very strong – except Joshua and Caleb – then the Israelites grumbled against God and Moses and Aaron – Then glory of Lord appeared at the tent of meeting and God said how long these people deal me with contempt and how long they refuse to believe me. I will strike them with plague and destroy them and make you into a great and stronger nation than they are
God gets angry if we keep testing him - We need to trust Him and then miracles happens
Let God give us wisdom to understand His word and help us to apply it in our lives
