Numbers 25 ; verse 5-13
Moab Seduces Israel
5 So Moses said to Israel’s judges, “Each of you must put to death those of your people who have yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor.” 6 Then an Israelite man brought into the camp a Midianite woman right before the eyes of Moses and the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 7 When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear in his hand 8 and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear into both of them, right through the Israelite man and into the woman’s stomach. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped; 9 but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000.
10 The Lord said to Moses, 11 “Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, has turned my anger away from the Israelites. Since he was as zealous for my honor among them as I am, I did not put an end to them in my zeal. 12 Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace with him. 13 He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood, because he was zealous for the honor of his God and made atonement for the Israelites.”
5 اس لئے موسیٰ نے اسرا ئیل کے منصفوں سے کہا ، “تم ان تمام لوگوں کو ڈھونڈ نکالو جو فغو ر کے جھو ٹے خدا بعل کی عبادت میں شامل ہو ئے اور انہیں مار ڈا لو۔”
6 اُس وقت موسیٰ اور اسرا ئیل کے بزرگ( قائد) خیمٴہ اجتماع کے دروازہ پر ایک ساتھ جمع ہوئے تھے۔ ایک اسرا ئیلی آدمی ایک مدیانی عورت کو اپنے بھا ئیوں کے پاس اپنے گھر لا یا۔ اُس نے یہ وہاں کیا جہاں اسے موسیٰ اور تمام قائدین دیکھ سکتے تھے۔ موسیٰ اور قائدین خیمٴہ اجتماع کے دروازہ پر رو پڑے۔ 7 کا ہن ہا رون کے پو تے اور الیعزر کے بیٹے فیِنحاس نے اسے دیکھا اس لئے اس نے اجلاس چھو ڑی اور اپنا بھا لا اٹھا لیا۔ 8 وہ اسرائیلی آدمی کے پیچھے پیچھے اس کے خیمہ میں گیا۔ تب اس نے اسرا ئیلی مرد اور مدیانی عورت کو اپنے بھا لے سے مارڈا لا۔ اس نے اپنے بھا لے کو ان دونوں کے پیٹ کے پا ر کر دیا۔ اس وقت بنی اسرا ئیلیوں میں ایک بڑی بیما ری پھیلی ہو ئی تھی
لیکن جب فیِنحاس نے ان دونوں کو ما رڈالا تو بیما ری رُک گئی۔ 9 اس بیما ری سے ۰۰۰,۲۴ لوگ مر چکے تھے۔
10 خداوند نے موسیٰ سے کہا ، 11 “کا ہن ہا رون کے پو تے اور الیعزر کے بیٹے فینحاس نے بنی اسرا ئیلیوں کو میرے غصّہ سے بچایا۔ کیو نکہ لوگوں کے بیچ میری غیرت سے اسے غیرت آئی۔ اس لئے میں نے ا ن لوگوں کو پو ری طرح سے اپنی غیرت کے جو ش میں تباہ نہیں کیا۔ 12 اس لئے فینحاس سے کہو کہ میں اس کے ساتھ ایک امن کا معاہدہ کرنا چا ہتا ہوں۔ 13 وہ اور اس کے بعد کی نسل میرے ساتھ ایک معاہدہ کرے گی۔ اس کے مطابق وہ ہمیشہ کا ہن رہیں گے کیوں کہ وہ اپنے خدا کے لئے غیرت مند تھا۔ اس طرح اسنے بنی اسرا ئیلیوں کے لئے تلا فی کی۔”
My point of view about above verses
Moab is a region to enter in promised land - its todays Jordan, When Israel involved them in sexual immorality with Moabite women – who invited them to the sacrifice to their gods, God’s anger burned against them
God told Moses take all leaders of these people and kill them and expose them in daylight so that my fierce anger may turn from Israelites -
God became happy with Phinehas the son of Eleazer, the son of Aaron as he killed one Israeli man and Midianite woman in front of whole assembly. So God made a covenant of peace with him as he was zealous for God’s honor. God told him that he and his descendants will have a lasting priesthood. By this way he made atonement for Israelites and plague against Israel stopped however those who died in plague numbered 24,000
if we turn away from God's way of life - He got angry - So we have to be on the way described in Word of God to stay blessed, We need to obey Him so that He be merciful again - If we repent and zealous for His name, He makes covenant of peace with our generations
Let God give us wisdom to understand His word and help us to apply it in our lives
