Deuteronomy 29 ; verse 7-15
Renewal of the Covenant
7 When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to fight against us, but we defeated them. 8 We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
9 Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do. 10 All of you are standing today in the presence of the Lord your God—your leaders and chief men, your elders and officials, and all the other men of Israel, 11 together with your children and your wives, and the foreigners living in your camps who chop your wood and carry your water. 12 You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God, a covenant the Lord is making with you this day and sealing with an oath, 13 to confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 14 I am making this covenant, with its oath, not only with you 15 who are standing here with us today in the presence of the Lord our God but also with those who are not here today.
7 “جب تم اس جگہ پر آئے تب حسبون کا بادشاہ سیحون اور بسن کا بادشاہ عوج ہم لوگوں کے خلا ف لڑنے آیا۔ لیکن ہم لوگوں نے انہیں شکست دی۔ 8 تب ہم لوگوں نے انکی زمین رُوبنیوں، جادوں، اور منّسی کے آ دھے خاندانی گروہ کے لوگوں کو دے دی۔ 9 اس لئے اس معاہدہ کے احکام کی تعمیل پو ری طرح کرو تب جو کچھ تم کرو گے اس میں کامیاب ہو گے۔
10 “آج تم سبھی خداوند اپنے خدا کے سامنے کھڑے ہو تمہا رے قائدین تمہا رے عہدیداروں تمہا رے بزرگ ( قائدین ) اور سبھی دوسرے لوگ یہاں ہیں۔ 11 تمہا ری بیویاں اور بچے یہاں ہیں اور وہ غیر ملکی بھی یہاں ہیں جو تمہا رے درمیان رہتے ہیں تمہا ری لکڑیا ں کاٹتے اور پانی بھر تے ہیں۔ 12 تم سبھی یہاں خداوند اپنے خدا کے ساتھ ایک معاہدہ کرنے وا لے ہو خداوند تم لوگوں کے ساتھ یہ معاہدہ آج کر رہا ہے۔ 13 اس معاہدہ کے ذریعے خداوند تمہیں اپنا خاص لوگ بنا رہا ہے اور وہ تمہا را خدا ہو گا اس نے یہ تم سے کہا ہے۔ اس نے تمہا رے آ باؤ اجداد ابرا ہیم، اسحاق اور یعقو ب سے وعدہ کیا تھا۔ 14 خداوند اپنا وعدہ کر کے صرف تم لوگوں کے ساتھ ہی معاہدہ نہیں کر رہا ہے۔ 15 بلکہ وہ معاہدہ ہم سبھی کے ساتھ کر رہا ہے جو یہاں آج خداوند اپنے خدا کے سامنے کھڑے ہیں لیکن یہ معاہدہ ہماری اُن نسلوں کے لئے بھی ہے جو آج یہاں ہم لوگوں کے ساتھ نہیں ہیں۔
My point of view about above verses
We defeated Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan and took their land and gave it as inheritances to Israelite's tribes
God enters into a covenant with Israelites and foreigners living in your camps as He swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – this covenant is not only with those who are present here but with future generations also
God renewed the contract with Isralites when he gave the land as he promised with Abraham that this land will belong to your generations - if you follow the terms of the contract you will prosper
Our God is God who fulfills His promise even with our generations to follow, so lets teach our children to live as God wants us to live as ultimately its for our benefit
May God give us wisdom to understand His Word and apply it in our lives
