Joshua; Chapter 8 Verse 1-2 & 18-19
Ai Destroyed
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land. 2 You shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king, except that you may carry off their plunder and livestock for yourselves. Set an ambush behind the city.”
18 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Hold out toward Ai the javelin that is in your hand, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out toward the city the javelin that was in his hand. 19 As soon as he did this, the men in the ambush rose quickly from their position and rushed forward. They entered the city and captured it and quickly set it on fire.
تب خدا وند نے یشوع سے کہا ، “مت ڈرو ہمّت نہ ہارو۔” اپنی تمام فوجوں کو عی لے جاؤ۔ میں عی کے بادشاہ کو شکست دینے میں تمہاری مدد کروں گا۔ میں اسکے لوگوں کو اس کے شہر کو اُس کی زمین کو تمہیں دے رہا ہوں۔ 2 تم عی اور اسکے بادشاہ کے ساتھ وہی کرو گے جو تم نے یریحو اور اسکے بادشاہ کے ساتھ کیا۔ اس بار تم صرف دولت اور مویشیوں کو لے لو اور اپنے لئے رکھو۔ تم اپنے لوگوں کے بیچ اس کی تقسیم کرو گے۔ اب تم اپنی کچھ فوجوں کو شہر کے پیچھے گھات لگاکر چھپنے کا حکم دو۔”
18 خدا وند نے یشوع سے کہا ، “اپنے بر چھے کو عی شہر کی طرف کرکے پکڑ کر تھا مے رکھو میں یہ شہر تم کو دونگا۔ اس لئے یشوع نے اپنے برچھے کو تھا مے رکھا۔ 19 اسرا ئیل کے چھپے ہو ئے فوجوں نے اسے دیکھا وہ جلدی سے اپنے چھپنے کی جگہوں سے نکلیں اور شہر کی طرف تیزی سے چل پڑیں۔ وہ شہر میں گھس گئے اور اس پر قبضہ کر لیا۔ تب فوجوں نے شہر کو جلانے کے لئے آ گ لگا نی شروع کی۔
My point of view about above verses
God told Joshua be strong and courageous – be careful to obey my laws and decrees Moses gave you- don’t turn right or left so that you may be successful wherever you go –
God told Joshua go and attack Ai, & do what you did to Jericho and its king except that you may carry off their plunder and livestock for yourself and set an ambush behind the city
The God told Joshua hold out toward Ai the javelin that is in your hand – and I will deliver the city & they did what God told and capture the city and set it on fire
God wants us to do as what He wants - then there is victory for us
May God give us wisdom to understand His Word and apply it in our lives
