1Samuel ; Chapter 12 Verse 16-18
16 “Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes! 17 Is it not wheat harvest now? I will call on the Lord to send thunder and rain. And you will realize what an evil thing you did in the eyes of the Lord when you asked for a king.”
18 Then Samuel called on the Lord, and that same day the Lord sent thunder and rain. So all the people stood in awe of the Lord and of Samuel.
16 “اب خاموش کھڑے رہو اور اس کے عظیم کارناموں کو دیکھو جو خداوند تمہا ری آنکھوں کے سامنے کرے گا۔ 17 اب گیہوں کی فصل کا وقت ہے میں خداوند سے دعا کروں گا میں اس سے کہوں گا کہ بجلی کی کڑک اور بارش بھیجے۔ تب تم جان جا ؤ گے کہ تم نے اپنے لئے بادشاہ مانگ کر خداوند کے ساتھ بہت بُرا کیا ہے۔”
18 اس لئے سموئیل نے خداوند سے دعا کی۔ اسی دن خداوند نے بجلی کی کڑک اور بارش کو بھیجا اور لوگ سچ مچ خداوند اور سموئیل سے ڈرے۔
My point of view about above verses
Lord told Samuel who will be the first king of Israelites who will deliver them from the hands of Philistines – He will be from tribe of Benjamin and when Samuel saw Saul - The Lord said to him – This is the man who will govern my people as their cry reached to me
Samuel told Israelites that by demanding a king for you – you did evil in the eyes of the Lord and now you will know by this sign that what a bad thing you did- As it is harvest season and I will ask Lord to send rain and thunder and he asked and God sent rain and thunder as it was wheat harvesting season – so all people stood in awe of the Lord
When we insist God to give us something - He gives but that does not prove good for us
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
