1 Chronicles ; Chapter 21 verse 13-
David Counts the Fighting Men
13 David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into human hands.”
14 So the Lord sent a plague on Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell dead. 15 And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the Lord saw it and relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
My point of view about above verses
When David took census of Israelites. God didn't like it as it was evil on sight of God and he punished them
When David took census of Israelites God gave him three options to take away his guilt – he has to select one to carry out against him
God gave three options to David through Gad prophet, three years of famine, or three months of battle with your enemies or three days of the sword of the Lord – and asked him to select
David selected 3 days of sword with the Lord as he thought it is better to be in Lord’s hand than in human as His mercy is greater- So Lord sent three days of plague and 70,000 of Israel died – He also sent angel to destroy Jerusalem but When angel was doing it, the Lord sympathized and said to angel enough – withdraw your hand
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
