2Samuel ; Chapter 24 Verse 18- 25
David Builds an Altar
18 On that day Gad went to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.” 19 So David went up, as the Lord had commanded through Gad. 20 When Araunah looked and saw the king and his officials coming toward him, he went out and bowed down before the king with his face to the ground.
21 Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?”
“To buy your threshing floor,” David answered, “so I can build an altar to the Lord, that the plague on the people may be stopped.”
22 Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever he wishes and offer it up. Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood. 23 Your Majesty, Araunah gives all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.”
24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”
So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels of silver for them. 25 David built an altar to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
18 اس دن جاد داؤد کے پاس آیا۔ جاد نے داؤد سے کہا ، “جاؤ اور نذرانہ قربان گاہ اروناہ یبوسی کے لئے بناؤ۔” 19 اس لئے داؤد نے جاد سے جو کہا ویسا کیا۔ داؤد اروناہ کو دیکھنے گیا۔ 20 اروناہ نے نگاہ اٹھا کر بادشاہ داؤد کو اور اسکے خادموں کو دیکھا کہ اس کے پاس آرہے ہیں۔ اروناہ باہر نکلا اور اپنا سر زمین پر ٹیک کر سلام کیا۔ 21 اروناہ نے کہا ، “میرا آقا و بادشاہ میرے پاس کیوں آیا ہے۔
داؤد نے جواب دیا ، “میں تم سے کھلیان خرید نے آیا ہو ں۔ تب میں خدا وند کے لئے قربان گاہ بنا سکوں گا ، پھر بیماری رک جائے گی۔”
22 اروناہ نے بادشاہ سے کہا ، “اے میرے آقا و بادشاہ جو چیز آپ قربانی کے لئے چاہیں لے سکتے ہیں۔ یہاں کچھ بیلیں جلانے کی قربانی کے لئے ہیں اور جلانے کی لکڑی کے طور پر استعمال کرنے کے لئے اناج مَلنے کا تختہ اور جوا ہے۔ 23 اے بادشاہ میں ہر چیز تم کو دونگا۔” اروناہ نے بادشاہ سے یہ
بھی کہا ، “آپ کا خدا وند خدا آپ سے خوش رہے۔
24 لیکن بادشاہ نے اروناہ سے کہا ، “نہیں ! میں تم سے سچ کہتا ہوں میں تم سے زمین کو اسکی قیمت دے کر خر یدوں گا۔ میں خدا وند اپنے خدا کو کوئی ایسی قربانی نہیں چڑھاؤنگا جس کی کوئی قیمت میں نے ادا نہیں کی۔ ”
اس لئے داؤد نے بیل اور کھلیان کو پچاس چاندی کے مثقال سے خریدا۔ 25 تب داؤد نے ایک قربان گاہ وہاں خدا وند کے لئے بنائی۔ داؤد نے جلانے کی قربانی اور سلامتی کا نذرانہ پیش کیا۔
خدا وند نے اسکی دعاؤں کو ملک کے لئے قبول کرلیا خدا وند نے اسرائیل میں بیماری روک دی۔
My point of view about above verses
David showed his love and reverence towards God - and God responded by making his name in the world and his kingdom in world will never cease - This is God's promise to David
When David counted the fighting men – he felt guilty then the word of the Lord came to prophet Gad (David’s seer) that God is giving you three options , choose one of them for me to carry out against you
When David chose from on punishment out of three to fall into the hands of the Lord for His mercy is great, but do not let me fall into human hands – so Lord send a plague & 70,000 Israelites died
Gad (the prophet) told David built an altar to the Lord on threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite and sacrificed burnt and fellowship offerings to the Lord – so the Lord answered his prayers on behalf of the land and the plague on Israel was stopped
God is just and He want everyone to obey Him fully - otherwise His punishment is harsh and also when we repent, He hears our prayers and resore us
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
