1 Kings ; Chapter 13 Verse 27- 34
The Man of God From Judah
27 The prophet said to his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me,” and they did so. 28 Then he went out and found the body lying on the road, with the donkey and the lion standing beside it. The lion had neither eaten the body nor mauled the donkey. 29 So the prophet picked up the body of the man of God, laid it on the donkey, and brought it back to his own city to mourn for him and bury him. 30 Then he laid the body in his own tomb, and they mourned over him and said, “Alas, my brother!”
31 After burying him, he said to his sons, “When I die, bury me in the grave where the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones. 32 For the message he declared by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and against all the shrines on the high places in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true.”
33 Even after this, Jeroboam did not change his evil ways, but once more appointed priests for the high places from all sorts of people. Anyone who wanted to become a priest he consecrated for the high places. 34 This was the sin of the house of Jeroboam that led to its downfall and to its destruction from the face of the earth.
My point of view about above verses
A man of God cried that Lord says a son named Josiah will be born to house of David – he will sacrifice high priests and human bones on altar – this will happen - sign is that the altar will split apart and ashes on it will be poured out
When king on hearing from man of God that the altar will split he stretch his hand to seize the man of God – his hand freeze and he can’t pull it back so he asked man of God to intercede with the Lord and he interceded & his hand restored – however altar split apart
King offered man of God to come and eat with him but he said God has commanded me to not eat or drink or return by the way you came so he took another road to return to Bethel
The man of God returned with old prophet and eats and dank with him but word of God came on old prophet as you did not obey Lord command to not eat and drink in this place so you will not be buried with your ancestors
So God handed over man of god to lion and the lion killed him as he defiled the word of Lord
The old prophet buried man of God in his own tomb and said whatever God told through man of God against all shrines on the high places in the towns of Samaria will certainly come true
If one is approached by God directly - he or she need to take guidance from him directly and not let anyone comes between as in above case - if we are told by God to not do certain things - we have not to - there are no ifs ands buts in God's word - His word is simply yes or no - as whatever is in between its from evil
May God give us wisdom to understand Him through His Word as He speaks with us through this - and apply it in our lives to have a blissful life on earth
